"I think war is God's way of teaching us geography.
-Paul Rodriguez

"I came. I saw. I conquered.
-Julius Caesar

"How this feels is I'm just another task in God's daily planner. The Renaissance penciled in for right after the Dark Ages. The Information Age is scheduled immediately after the Industrial Revolution. Then the Post-Modern Era, then the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Famine. Check. Pestilence. Check. War. Check. Death. Check. And between the big events, the earthquakes & tidal waves, God's got me squeezed in for a cameo apperance. Then maybe in thirty years, or maybe next year, God's daily planner has me finished."
-Chuck Palahniuk

"Join the Army. See the World. Meet interesting people and kill them."
-Pacifist Badge from 1978

"Why do we kill people who are killing people to show that killing people is wrong?"
-Holly Near

Interesting, that he is also the guy who led the famous March to the Sea. He did not wish war, did not like war, knew it was a horror and an evil... but knew that if it had to be waged, then it had to be waged all-out and not played with.

Precisely.

Pardon my french, but if you're going to do something, Don't half-ass it. Sherman sure as hell didn't.

Speaking of which...

"It is well that war is so terrible, else we should grow too fond of it."
-General Robert E. Lee, at the battle of Fredricksburg

"Pardon my french." Nice unintended double-entendre. (The French's proverbial penchant for surrendering...)

Fi fy Fo Fum, I sense another Scottish referendum,
Be it live,
Or be it dead,
They'll grind Torry bones
To make its bread.

~Cochise

"A Nation is not conquered until the hearts of its women are on the ground. Then it is done, no matter how brave its warriors nor how strong its weapons."

"This war did not spring up on our land, this war was brought upon us by the children of the Great Father who came to take our land without a price, and who, in our land, do a great many evil things... This war has come from robbery - from the stealing of our land." ~Spotted Tail

When a white army battles Indians and wins, it is called a great victory, but if they lose it is called a massacre." - Chiksika ( a Shawnee)

The little girl saw her first troop parade and asked,
'What are those?'
'Soldiers.'
'What are soldiers?'
'They are for war. They fight and each tries to kill as many of the other side as he can.'
The girl held still and studied.
'Do you know . . . I know something?'
'Yes, what is it you know?'
'Sometime they'll give a war and nobody will come.'
Carl Sandburg
