In order to reduce the number of threads dedicated to Donald Trump, please keep discussion of the latest ordinary scandal or talking point in this thread.

If something raises questions that would be interesting outside of the political race, or a truly extraordinary event happens, then by all means create a new thread, but most current ones do not justify a thread on their own.

All normal WrongPlanet rules still apply.

In addition, please avoid derailing the thread:

- No irrelevant criticism of Hillary Clinton. If someone criticises Trump's abortion policy, it's OK to point out that Clinton's is the same.
- No praise for Donald Trump. This is not a place to convince people to change their vote. This is a place for Clinton supporters to vent. It's OK to say "this isn't true and here's why", but not "and so Trump would be a good candidate".

Why is this thread just labelled the "Donald Trump Megathread" when the complementary thread is labelled the "I Hate Hillary Megathread"? There seems to be some not-so-subtle bias favoring Mr. Trump at work here ...

I have no love for either. Just hoping one wins just for people to learn from their mistakes.

Why are people being censored on the PPR forum? It CLEARLY says in the rules:

"This is a special forum. It is for debating and as such pretty much anything goes"

If it's because you don't like so many threads about the same person, I feel that is wrong for a moderator to do.

If it's because OTHER people have complained that they're sick of the threads----it's an election year, and to be expected; one's voice should not be silenced, unless they break a rule.

You have not read the thread titles correctly. It's "Dump Trump", which rhymes. There are no good rhymes for "Clinton" or "Hillary" so I went with alliteration. I thought they were roughly equally provocative.

If people would rather have entirely neutral thread titles (e.g. just call this the "anti-Clinton" thread and the other the "anti-Trump thread") then we could change the titles, I just thought "fun" ones would be better.

(I'm also tickled by the suggestion that I'm biased in favour of Trump...)

This post that you're responding to, is just repeating what Alex said, FIRST, on the Clinton thread----and, I'm thinking the thread title was changed after Alex said that, and Alex isn't around often enough to know how you feel about Trump / Clinton.

I've changed the thread titles to "donald trump megathread" and "hillary clinton megathread" because the word "hate" doesn't belong in a thread title . . . It's certainly more flagrant and provocative than "dump trump" ...

Also, I don't see the point in trying to contain discussions into megathreads. That will turn into an unmanageable mess of discussions that you have to wade through just to find the discussion that you want to engage in.

An apposite quote (I think) from the late, great, famous Carl Jung, from his book "The Undiscovered Self" which is about the dangers of demagogic movements:

"Naturally, society has an indisputable right to protect itself against arrant subjectivisms, but, in so far as society is itself composed of de-individualized human beings, it is completely at the mercy of ruthless individualists. Let it band together into groups and organizations as much as it likes – it is just this banding together and the resultant extinction of the individual personality that makes it succumb so readily to a dictator. A million zeros joined together do not, unfortunately, add up to one. Ultimately everything depends on the quality of the individual, but our fatally short-sighted age thinks only in terms of large numbers and mass organizations, though one would think that the world had seen more than enough of what a well-disciplined mob can do in the hand of a single madman.”

Thank you. Those were my thoughts as well.
