It was pointed out to me in one of the other Trump threads that his motivation for engaging the 2nd Amendment people was to support armed action against a possible Clinton government. I don't know how I could have been so obtuse as not to see this for myself (thanks nurseangela.)
Anyway, the pieces now fall into place. Trump's engagement of Putin, his insistence that the election will be rigged, the threat of a constitutional change disarming American citizens. He knows Clinton is leading in the polls, so he is setting up for a coup. And I think he will have a lot of support, a lot of armed support.
So, how will things be in such a world?
He did no such thing. If he had made an explicit proposal to harm Clinton he could have been indicted for assault. All that is required for assault (a felony) is a threat. If he proposed harm he could also be indicted for conspiracy to commit battery or murder. That is a class A felony. Trump did none of those things. He merely mentioned the possibility which is perfectly legal and protected under the First Amendment.
