So ... umm ... what do you think of this?

This will certainly cause a stir. Hoo boy.

Fun Fact: David Futrelle was going to appear in this documentary. He backed down when he realized that this documentary isn't the one-sided hatchet job he wanted. After that, a bunch of MRAs helped fund the film just to spite him. What an idiot.

And here I hoped that it would be a documentary about the cultural impact and influence of The Matrix movies...

.. oh, well...

In reference to one of the speakers ...

I find it interesting that courts sometimes make "father figures" pay child support for other men's children.

Yeah ... but all the US presidents have been male so we can't complain about that. If we do then we are neckbeards or something.

"Logic and evidence eh? Neckbeard! Wuss! Basement dweller! Aspie! Nerd! Manchild! I totally won that debate."

I've encountered a fair few MRAs online. While there was plenty of homophobia and misogyny and gender essentialism and just generally piss-poor thinking, there were also serious problems being raised.

Thing is, I think the serious Men's Rights stuff is mostly misunderstood/misplaced/misdirected class anger. Were they to take a class analysis perspective, they may find a much more fruitful view of the matter.

In the US, you still have a draft. As I understand, it presenty excludes women, and there's an argument I hear from MRAs that women should be included. Quite why MRAs don't just campaign for the abolition of the draft is beyond me. Much better than demanding for both sexes to be eligible to be sent off to be blown to s**t on the whim of whoever happens to be president and their corporate paymasters. It's especially odd given the general anti-government slant from MRAs, and frankly as such I can only guess that the demand for such 'equality' is born of gender spite and macho posturing.

In the US you have to register for the draft when you're 18 (if you're male). But we dont have an actual draft (military conscription). The draft ended at the end of the Vietnam era in 1973. The military is all-volunteer now.

But if Iran and Saudi Arabia go at it in the Middle East, and Iran draws Russia in, and the Saudies draw us in, and it becomes August 1914 all over again we could start the draft again for WWIII!
