Meh I figured what the hell, maybe someone here knows....

So is there in any mythology a goddess with long flowing hair, who wears a white gown and a crown of still living vines and carries with her a glowing orb with a translucent appearance....trying to google it but haven't found anything specific yet. So if anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.

I saw them in a dream(probably), but it just seems so vivid and specific and at the time I saw this I was 11 and was convinced I woke up and saw this figure and went back to sleep after being so afraid of her I hid under my blankets. I am wondering if any such being has ever been said to exist. Moonlight also seemed to be quite apparent so perhaps some sort of moon related deity?

I don't care whether anyone thinks it's real or not just curious if this is just a creation of my mind of if this particular figure is an already existing concept.

You could check out Selene, Demeter, or Diana perhaps. Keep Googling until you find something that strikes you, and follow the tangents.

Yeah so far that is what I am doing, not sure why this is so much on my mind lately I mean it was 16 years ago I had this weird dream/vision...but as of late I have been really curious as to who she could have possibly been.

Check out Selene, the Greek (hence the flowing white robes) goddess of the Moon (represented by the glowing orb she sometimes has in her hands), maybe?

Sweetleaf, what you said sounds interesting because you mentioned a particular quality of her presence being overpowering.

I remember, one of several experiences I had with a particular goddess a few years back, was being in meditation and lapsing into a border state. When I went in I found myself on a plane with no one else aside from - as I found later - a friend also in the first class cabin. I felt an intensely playful smile penetrating me and I looked out toward the left wing of the plane to see something absolutely blinding. She was flying along with the plane, guiding the wing, and her gown and head-dress were so dazzling white that I couldn't look at her for more than a split second - it was like looking at a whole field of fresh mountain snow on an already bright winter day.

Sweetleaf, out of curiosity what was the fear?

I know that the Triple is a goddess that people used to have a lot of fear of, particularly they saw Hecate as being at the crossroads at night. Do you think you were maybe dealing with a fear of the dark or something about night time in general?

Thought you were describing Aphrodite until you mentioned the black hair.

The only one I can think-of, off-the-top-of-my-head, is Harmonia. She was the goddess of marriage (harmony between man and wife), and concord. Unlike other gods / goddesses who would sometimes appear as a portent, she would appear to children (et al.) of divorced / divorcing parents to "say" "Everything's going to be alright". She was Greek, had dark hair----but, I've never seen a picture of her with her hair down; also, she's always rendered wearing a necklace.

Were your parents, by chance, going-through / headed for a divorce, ATT? Was your lady wearing a necklace?

When I have more time, I'll pour-over my mythology tome, to see if I can come-up-with something better.....

I don't really know, exactly what caused it...perhaps it was just overwhelming but it was quite a long time ago when I was 11 so could have just been freaked out by seeing someone appearing to be floating in the middle of my room regardless of if it was a dream or not.

I too thought of Aphrodite when reading your OP; she is sometimes depicted with dark hair:

Lol, yeah that would do it for me too.

I was going to say, try asking her. Consider the possibility that it wasn't an accident. Try offering up a prayer, asking about herself as well as her interest in reaching out to you, and meditate on her image. If you feel the inclination to check further maybe even take a period of forty days, set up a little alter on white or violet cloth with spice offering (check the Liber 777 concordance for things with lunar properties), burn a candle while you meditate on her daily, and see if you can find a poem about her in Thomas Taylor's Hymns of Orpheus that you can start your meditations by reciting.

If your mind's flogging you about it odds are there's something pushing you back in her direction - try exploring it!

You have dark wavy hair yourself, and light skin.

Maybe the "goddess" was you.

A possible future self (mythically enhanced perhaps) visiting you.

Alternatively- your parents are divorced/seperated. Arent they? Maybe Campin Cat's theory about Harmonia is right.
