Haha I love this song's dreamy quality and thought the same thing recently listening to it for the millionth time.
It would be a wonderful thing if America could come together or at least meet each other half way. But nope. Looks like there must be sharply opposing viewpoints and basically a cold civil war. Sad

the problem is that the right refuses to budge one iota, the left has been surrendering and surrendering to the right, shifting the center ever rightwards until it was backed into a corner.
What make believe world have you been living in? The left takes and takes and won't give an inch. We give and give and they never stop , each time we were told if you just give this we won't ask for anything else only for few months later for the left to demand more and call us unreasonable if we don't
It's been working people who have been losing wages and benefits, all the while big corporations have been getting richer without any regard to the very people who have made them rich. The civil rights act has been gutted, with conservative politicians taking advantage of it with voter suppression of minorities, the poor, and the elderly. Seems to me that the right has been having a hey day without budging an inch, while the rest of us pay out the a$$.
There's no voter suppression

a lot of people are just too lazy to go vote.
The right hasn't gotten anything. And the left has been screwing over 100+million Americans for the last 40 years and all we want is to be left alone
There is voter suppression, but because you and I live in civilized states, we never see it first hand. People are told they need to show an ID to vote, but targeted groups who don't tow the conservative line often are either too impoverished to buy said ID, or can't take off enough time from low paying jobs to travel miles away to purchase an ID at a state office that is open only for purposely limited times. Or ridiculous demands are made on such individuals, such as the elderly black lady who had her birth certificate, but was denied an ID because she didn't have her marriage certificate. This was hardly an exception. Or how the number of polling places in low income areas were dramatically reduced. Voting ID's are supposed to stop voter fraud, a problem that hardly exists. The real voting fraud comes from denying certain Americans their right to be heard at the ballot box.
