No doubt.

Do you think Trump is making it “great” for them?

Not really.

But neither was Obama.

And I don't think Hillary would have been any better either.

It's naive to believe that politicians who can actually bring "change I can believe in" can ever become president in a political system that's rotten to the core.

All politics is “rotten to the core.”

Whether left or right, centrist or whatever.

I just advocate for myself and my friends, and seek to adopt an ethical attitude towards people in general.

Politicians are stuck in the cycle of greed and the will to power. Rarely is one able to break away.

It’s better to deal with your life on the microcosmic, rather than the macrocosmic level.

Think in concrete practicality, rather than abstract theory.

All politics? Not so sure about that.

"Democracy", however, is sure to make produce the worst possible leaders.

It's what I do as well.

It's the only level I have any impact on anyway...

It's the notion that everyone who wears the hat is terribad, it's like you people want them to be bad people. That there's nothing they could do to change your mind, you don't want to change your mind, you want them to be bad.

Teens often conform because they get bullied for being different. People may wear the hat to avoid being victimized.

Or they may avoid wearing the hat for the exact same reason.

Yeah, but not at a largely conservative Catholic school.

Total BS. We desperately need good faith politics to manage a modern Democratic society.

We need people to transcend politics.

We’re not doing that now.

It’s why I wouldn’t, and won’t wear any shirts showing I like guns, or any politicial ideas, nor share any of my beliefs out of fear.

Probably not.

But at your typical American college, on the other hand...

Why would we need "democracy" in the first place?

At its worst, it's just plutocracy in disguise. At its best, it's still just the tyranny of the masses.

How is either option superior to eg. enlightened despotism?

Not going to happen as long as the masses swallow whatever the mainstream media feeds them hook, line, and sinker.

And while young generations do seem to get more of their info from the Internet than from the mainstream media, that's not per se an improvement when you consider this has led to the revival of flat-earthism...

In the current political climate, that's a smart move indeed... regardless of what your views are.

Definitely at work, the golden rule is to never discuss politics or religion... ever. And if you ever do end up in a discussion on politics or religion, try to keep your personal opinion as much to yourself as possible. No matter what those views are, changes are that you're goint to offend someone the moment you express them.

my husband thinks my car will get firebombed for my pro-environment stickers just like a fellow local did for his obama sticker. i do wear political shirts saying things like "coexist," "love is love is love is love," and "liberal like jesus." i also have a kaepernick t-shirt. if someone pokes me in the nose, so be it. i like showing support for my fellow liberals. i live in a conservative county though we have pockets of liberalism.
