Yeah, it's so terrible that a capitalist president has just been elected, when America was founded on capitalistic ideals. How damn terrible. We should be more like Cuba.

You weren't founded on capitalistic ideals though.

America was a colony, you rebelled against a ruler overseas and claimed determination over your own affairs.
You were more socialist in nature then.

We were setup as a Republic. How were we socialist?

We most certainly were not socialist! "The pursuit of happiness" is not about state redistribution of wealth.

Excess hatred and anger? Like these anti-Trump protesters spitting on the police?

Sweetleaf, I still have trouble believing what you stated.

And besides, I imagine anti-Trump people REFUSE to be kind with those who did support him. This stuff is so intense now. Okay, do you think that if Hillary's been elected, will Republicans do the same or not?

Yes I think it is possible if she got elected you'd have people from the right protesting and some angry people taking things too far and acting violently. I don't think people on the left is inherently more violent than the right, or anything like that.

Again, we were never setup as a Democracy.

And if trump had lost we'd likely have pro-trump people behaving more sick and deranged than people who voted for Hillary. I don't condone violence but I refuse to believe all the trump supporters would have peacefully and calmly accepted if he had lost and Hillary had won...especially since I see plenty of sh*t slinging and pot stirring on both sides.

Obviously there is some division and conflict in this country though...or else tensions wouldn't be running so high over this.

I disagree. The Right did nothing when Obama got in both times. Also, I can only speak for myself, I have not rubbed in people's faces here that Trump won like I sure as hell know the people here who called me bigot, Nazi, Hitler, racist and other colorful terms, would have done. You know why? Because I know what it would feel like and I think it's rude. So, no, if Hillary would have won, things would have been A LOT different.

I don't think their was quite so much division or at least it wasn't as out in the open both times obama got elected...I am saying this is a reflection of the current state of things. Also whilst I don't recall tons of protesting or anything over him being elected there was plenty of disrespect, mockery and 'not my president' attitudes to go around towards him from the right.

Well, maybe you see it as excessive, but I don't. The man ran on a platform of maintaining white male ableist privilege and reversing all of the progressive laws of recent decades (which provided more equal access or at least provided a legal means of opposing a lack of equal access). For me, this calls for some major opposition, since I am against the maintenance of hegemonic forces.

Lunatics on both sides are as bad as each other. Looking at those pictures about Obama makes me sick. What the hell is wrong with people? The only difference here is that the corporate/mainstream media and Hollywood are inciting this kind of violence because it's against someone they dislike. They were willing to sit by quietly and back the most psychotic candidate in history though. People are so brainwashed and tribal on both sides. Why can't people just think about wrong and right generally?

The right blocked Obama at nearly everything while he was in office! They were literally brats that didn't want to compromise. Plus there was numerous horrible racists pics of Obama and his family floating around the internet. Plus they were called many many names. Fact! Go look it up.

But now that Republicans and the evil evil Trump are in more power- everyone is acting like Democrats (or just anyone that disagrees with Trump/Republicans in general) is being immature. Then they pretend like Obama was never treated badly or anything of the sort. Ignoring facts is not a good thing.

Sorry- its a right for people to protest! Almost all protests are peaceful. People can whine about Soros and others "paying protestors" but the other side has done the same dang thing! I wish people would stop being hypocrites and face the actual facts.

Plus I want to point out his cabinet picks- almost (or probably all) all are rich elite that don't carry about the common person. Most have fought with the area they are in charge with.. or they have little to no knowledge of it! Education pick as one huge example! She isnt qualified for it at all. She will get the job mainly because she paid off the corrupt people in congress. So sickening

Politics is corrupt on both sides- but its clear Democrats will have to fix the mess again. Obama did a lot of great for the country- Trump is undoing tons of it because of his personal interests, not to help the common person- just to help the rich get richer. So stupid and wrong.

Coming from someone who isn't really on either side (I'm a libertarian), I honestly do not see the reason or any potential benefits for supporters and non-supporters constantly going at it with each other. whether you support him or not, Donald Trump is your president. You can hate the guy all you want, but please do not wish for him to fail to prove something. because if he fails, we all fail with him.

That's why they're called the opposition, blocking actions that go against they and their constituents' wishes is their job.

Social media might be effecting the perception, it wasn't nearly as omnipresent when Obama won, and it's certainly amplifying the anti-Trump sentiment and making it feel much more pervasive than the anti-Obama reaction, which I suspect was, how shall I say, geographically confined, to a greater extent. Where I live, kids walked out of schools, people blocked traffic in massive protests, and everywhere you turn it seems like you're hearing about how awful Trump is, and that's before I fire up the internet. I'm used to every GOP presidential nominee being portrayed as the worst possible calamity where I live, but this has gotten pretty over the top.

The problem with Obama is he let himself get pushed around too easily. He failed to see things through and then blamed others for his failures.

The problem with the way the left has behaved, is it totally goes against the sort of image they were portraying of themselves as being enlightened peaceful tolerant intellectuals.

It says a lot that people are afraid of leftists. Afraid to say they support the president in anyway for fear of leftist branding and leftist threats.
