I'm actually scared about the events in revelation that are actually going on. I'm not very religious, but I've seen decent well-meaning arguments so far about the pope, wars, Obama, etc. The religion I was raised, Catholicism, even rejects the rapture, but other Christians don't. I am 25 and I don't want to die yet.

I read about Obama plotting to overthrow his successor and it will be the end of America and the end of the world. I couldn't stand Obama myself either. There is even an article on Free Republic. And Pope Francis is a very liberal/progressive pope, it does say that at the end, that's the way the pope is. All this stuff about islam, Marxism and everything.

What events are you talking about? I'm not aware of the apparition of a sheep with seven horns and seven eyes, sea turning into blood, a army of grass hoppers looking like horses, with men faces, crowns, iron armors, women hairs and scorpion tails, the stars falling down from the sky, the third of the sea turning into blood or other weird things like that. If you ask the Revelation don't make any sense and seem more like a fever dream with a lot of hallucinogens.

To the OP-

Not to fear, you're probably not going to die yet, and hopefully not anytime soon. Revelation is a book very popular with evangelical Protestants who mistakenly see it as portents of the future. Whereas mainline Protestants, Catholics, and others who value genuine biblical scholarship, realize that most of Revelation was then the recent past and present back in the days of the 1st century, when the early church was persecuted by the Roman authorities. The language of the book is so bizarre because it's message is hidden behind the Apocalyptic literary style of Persia, as they wanted to avoid accusations of treason by criticizing the Roman authorities. The Beast, and the number 666, are references to the Roman Emperor who had persecuted the Christians, Nero, while the Antichrist is simply a designation for anyone who places himself in place of Christ, which the Roman Emperors had done, insisting they be worshipped as gods. The 1,000 year rule of Christ isn't sometime in the future, but is in the here and now - that is, rather than literally a thousand year period, it's a reference to a long, indeterminate period of time between Christ's resurrection and ascension, and his return. Christ's kingdom on earth is all true believers spiritually united in Christ.

I don't know what sources you read, though your quoted fear about Obama sounds conspiracist to me. Might be more realistic to worry about the current POTUS and the ruler of North Korea goading each other toward nuclear war.

I thought everything written in Revelation happened back in the 1980's. My dad says it was a big deal back then. Everything taking place then was straight out of the prophecy according to whoever.

This.

The signs in Revelations have "come true" in every generation for the last 2000 years.

A few years ago I bought a used VHS tape of a Learning Channel documentary narrated by David MacCallum about how the End Times prophecies were all coming true when the doc was made in the 1990's. One of the predictions featured in the doc was a book entitled "5-5-2000" (so titled because May fifth 2000 is the moment that the world "will end" according that book author's analysis of the Bible).

The world was supposed to end circa 1000, too, when the Crab Nebula came into being. And 2012, according to the Mayans.

Just watch, basically, any fantasy movie or whatever---and similar things to the above will be shown on the Silver Screen.
