Just like he's saving us from poverty, war, famine, and disease so far? I'll pass.
Come to think of it, weren't we put on this Earth to be its caretakers? If so, then it's our problem so we must deal with it alone.
Here's an old funny story from somewhere I don't remember:
One day a Christian was told on the radio from the meteorological center that a flood was coming. The man did nothing as he said - I'm a Christian, I pray, I believe, God will save me.
Hours later people who were evacuating had told the man that he should evacuate as well. The man said - no, I wont leave. I'm a Christian, I pray, I believe. God will save me.
The flood comes and the man is trapped on the roof of his house. A helicopter comes over head and the people inside say - let us help you. The man said no and added - I'm a Christian, I pray, I believe. God will save me.
Well, the man dies and he makes it to Heaven. Confused, the man goes to God and asks - why did you not save me? I am a Christian. I pray. I believe.
God said, my son, I sent you a radio warning, people who came by to help you evacuate, and a helicopter. So what the Hell are you doing here?
Now, if God created the world and gave us the means to have food, water, and air to grow and prosper, then why are some people OK with destroying what God created? I think God may be moving on to his/her next big project and telling the people of earth to go to hell because he/she is done with these humans who disregard everything he/she gave them.
"Jesus take the wheel" is NOT a public policy proposal. Pray if you must, if it makes you feel better, but if itsn't followed by sound action then NOTHING will improve.
