http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/26/politics/ ... index.html

DJT has shown his utter contempt for decency and norms of presidential behavior by pardoning racist Joe for violating the constitutional rights of hundreds of people. DJT has decided to act as President of the Confederacy. He has endorsed police brutality, and now racial profiling.

We now need a bunch of amendments passed, since there is no ethical norm our narcissist-in-chief will honor. The pardon did not go through the usual process, or even wait for the pardonee to show remorse for violating not the law, but THE CONSTITUTION.

Almost no one cares about intellectual arguments.

"Trump is sticking it to the left".

Trump supporters cheer ...

This action is entirely consistent with his campaign themes. In fact, I believe he honored Arpaio in person at a campaign rally in Arizona. I think it reasonable to assume that his core supporters would view Arpaio's conviction as a miscarriage of justice and in fact a show of disregard for core American values, and of contempt for the concerns of the average American.

You could almost say he might feel obligated (politically if not morally) to pardon Mr. Arpaio, whether or not you or I think Arpaio deserves it.

Seems like a particularly tone-deaf and partisan move on its face.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/26/us/p ... ml?mcubz=1

If some degree of the grievances are legitimate with respect to either him handling both the illegals and American Latinos unethically, partisan politicians trying to stop him from doing his job, even a little bit of both - this seems more like an eye-gouge than anything.

Trump is more concerned with playing up to his base that loves cops down on minorities, than with doing the thing that's morally right.

...I just skimmed Arpaio's Wiki rwgarding the massive amounts of corruption and incompetence, at the very least, that took place during his time as Sheriff...including ignoring the repeated rapes of a " mentally disabled "
teenage girl (One of " us "?), entraping a teenage convict into setting up an entirely phony " assasination plot " which Arpaio "cracked " by arresting the entrapee in front of TV cameras, with the case against him thrown out when a nearly-impossible-to-get verdict of entrapment by Arpiao was reached in court, and setting up a bogus arrest of local alt- weekly owners who criticized him! (I imagine some conservatives feel
" That's the way to deal with that damned ol' libbrul meedja ", I realize
) That the " core American values...concerns " U talkin' 'bout, 'Homes? Those actions and many more like them led to humongous judgements against his department, which the county had to pay. It is nearly impossible to get a criminal conviction against a high-ranking cop, but do these many judgement/settlement-s indicate something about him - and his supporters? I never knew these until now. Yes, it's Wikipedia...the descriptions of these look pretty well backed-up.

Trump can f**k off...

I'll live my life, I don't support the guy...and yes when I am on facebook and foreigners talk about how stupid he is I agree with them. Because half the rest of the world is working on renewable energy not making BS claims about 'clean coal' Trump loses at the end of the day.

Unfortunately, as long as Trump or any Republican is in the White House with their talk of clean coal to appease the deluded masses, we Americans lose at the end of the day.

The thing about this story that I can't let go is DJT calling pervasive civil rights violations "doing his job."

However, I have to admit that the definition seems to extend to the DOJ, which has redirected funds away from defending civil rights and toward suppressing them. Likewise with HUD, to the extent that people want access to affordable housing to have any kind of value to our government.

The silver lining is that DJT is crap at doing his job.

Trump is a troll. That's why all the trolls at 4chan love him.
