I don't usually believe in conspiracy theories. However, I do find there is something specious about this climate change discussion, and the more I look into it, the more I find that it is a form of indoctrination. If they can convince enough people of man made climate change, they can begin to strip us of our basic rights, eventually. This would be ideal for communists/marxists. Then the people would no longer be able to use capitalism or exchange of goods and fair trade. They would suggest they have the answer by capping our basic privileges- including electric power, oil, personal computers, etc. Then we would be living in a third world environment, in which the global elite would control everything. It seems like what they really are pushing in the undercurrent is for the acceptance of a one world government and a communist society. After all, we are causing the climate to change, so they must curtail everything in their power to stop it, right?

No, it's not.

Climate change, to me, is very real.

I don't believe even the most ardent liberal here in the United States is for a "one-world government."

I'm not into "one-world government" myself. I wouldn't want us to have the Euro as our currency!

In just a few years the planet will be warm enough for all our eggs to hatch.
You’ll be much better off after we are in command.
Trust me.

For mankind to have a great future, we need global warming if it can help keep the next period of glaciation in this ice age from occurring or at least lessen the severe blows.

A warm Earth is a productive Earth. Cooling means starvation.

The conspiracy is the right wing think tanks who relentlessly tell lies about it and about the evidence.

If you want evidence, look back at how the Earth was when it was markedly warmer than today. It was hardly a disaster.

It's the will of the people that is important. A one world government doesn't have to be evil, but it's almost a popular meme more than it is a credible movement.

You will see a lot of slogans for climate change studies and global disaster prevention. If it inspires activism then there is a genuine concern, but who is pulling the levers is another matter. Actually this might start as an economic problem more than anything else. How do we economise on Climate change? What system suits us best?

Then there is the social problem. Are we better or worse off? We generate a lot of wealth as human beings, but at the same time, a lot of people suffer. As human beings are finding, if we cannot create a sustainable economy for Earth, then what we create, begins to lack value.

So it's simple. You make scientific research more ethical globally. You prescribe a solution that is ethical, and you advance technology and social progress all in one stroke, then the economy benefits also.
Once the economy supports life, so will our efforts to accommodate climate change and global conservation.

Otherwise the inevitable solution is planted not by the will of the people.

Climate change is bad for coastal areas all around the world, since sea levels are rising as a result of the melting of the glaciers.

We're having unprecedented fires in California----possibly caused by "climate change." I grew up with California having fires every year---but it's never caused this many evacuations----hundreds of thousands!

In Alberta, Canada, a whole city of about 100,000 people was evacuated because of a wildfire. Fort McMurray.

We never had these sorts of things when I was growing up.

Your logic takes some astounding leaps of faith.

News flash - the global elite already control everything.

They already have you under their thumb because you can't even afford to go to the doctor, eat a healthy diet, have access to higher education, or buy much land.
The wealthy own everything, there is nothing left to buy, so they want to own the land preserved by the national parks, have control over the internet, tear up the environment without repercussions, and not have to pay taxes.
Where have you been hiding this past year?

No.

It's a real problem, the speed with which it was happening was significantly overestimated, and it went from 'we have to stop capitalism now or the earth turns wet ash' to having enough time that we can innovate our way out of it through the typical means of technological progress.

Passing on the glib name of this video he actually touches on some statistics as well related to carbon emissions. It looks like, slow but sure we're winning. Obviously we've got a heck of a long way to go as we're hoping to get relatively close to zero CO2 from economic activity within several decades but considering the exponential improvement of technology it looks like it's off to a feasible start.

But... its called "weather". Climate change is normal and natural, and its always happening. We have little to no effect on it.

Once again, you are getting it wrong. Weather and climate are two different things. Weather is local atmospheric conditions while climate is global. Learn some basic science.

There was no human civilization back then, and the true is that if we were send back in time in some of those warmer periods, we will die, as we are no longer adapted to the heat or even simply a more oxygenated atmosphere.
Sea risings, floods, desertification, heat waves and so on, all bring populations displacement and crops destruction, thus conflicts, starvation and epidemics; and then the collapse of modern civilization.
Similar things already happened 3000 years ago:

It's no surprise rednecks deny climate change. They think the Earth is only 6000 years old and believe they are entitled to turn it into a petri dish.
