Personally, I think the Cyclical View of History makes the most sense to me. Still, I fear that Western Civilization, as such, is due for a new Dark Age.

The Cyclical View of History has no evidence backing it up.

History is more complex than that. You generally need to examine events on a case-by-case basis because history is not like math.

When you study history, you need to look at the individual facts. When you see a pattern, you can point out that pattern, but you should never alter the facts to fit a pattern that you can imagine. Again, history is not like math. The simple patterns are not always right.
