So my poor friend thinks he and his gf can just move to Canada, no money, no job, and Live there and become citizens. From what I’ve read you have to be rich over 400,000 or have a skip/telant they want to move and live in Canada.

So Canadians is true? Does Canada just take anyone and let them live there even though they make end up needing aid just to survive?

FYI he’s a hard core Deep South conservative which some pas crimnalmrecords(I think he got drunk, stole his dads truck and crashed it without a license) he’s also the same one who swore he could join the military with bipolar (never did wonder why)

Now he’s swearing he can move to Canada get citizenship and live their with his gf even though both will be unemployed and have very little money

With his criminal record he wouldn’t even be allowed in for a visit/holiday. It is possible to apply for a “minister’s permit”, i.e. an exemption to this but it is expensive.

Maybe he has family in Canada already?

I probably wouldn't be able to obtain Canadian citizenship unless I married a Canadian.

I have a Bachelor's----but that's not enough. I have to have some "unique" sort of skill which would be useful to Canada.

Many people in Canada who don't have jobs have my skill set.

He shouldn't want to move here. Our Prime Minister is a fruitcake. Come to think of it, so is your President. The only real difference is our Prime Minister is a Liberal fruitcake while that Oompa Loompa is a Conservative fruitcake. He probably wouldn't like that though. Best to move to Mexico where they won't be paying for a wall.

If that drunk thing got him a DUI in the US they won't even let him enter Canada to visit, let alone live there. Even without that they're not going to let him immigrate with all of his other issues.
Not happenin'

mexico might be more realistic.

there's some not too shabby little towns around lake chapala, they even have a walmart in ajijic because of all the americans and canadians who go there.

It's unlikely he'd even be permitted to enter, although that would likely depend on why he's entering.

Even if my gf and I marry in Canada and she moves here, she wouldn't be guaranteed to receive citizenship. This is something I will need to research in more depth, since that is the intended plan as of the last conversation on the topic (~30 minutes ago or so).

I’m talking about people who want to immigrate to Canada, not native Canadians.

My gf isn't a native-born Canadian, she's an American citizen who was born in the US, therefore she's someone who wishes to immigrate to Canada.

He says his friends who moved to Canada said all he needs is $1,000 and he be able to be a citizen and live there with his gf who’s also American. He wants to get away from the crazy politics, but he’s pro trump, pro gun. He also thinks he’ll jsut be able to cross the border with all his guns and bring them with him to live there. But I’ve seen Americans go to prison in Canada for accidental driving to the border and sskignto turn around while they had a gun.

Doubt it. He does this . Like when he was sure he was going join the army or when he was going move to Oregon. He lives in an imaginary world and ignores reality. I just hope he doesn’t try to drive into Canada with his guns.

Nope. That wouldn’t be wise.

They barely let me into Canada with my blankets and toiletries in my trunk. I'm quite sure that if I had a firearm I would've been turned back toot suite. As a matter of fact, the female border agent told me that Canada doesn't want America's gun culture up there.

You’d been arrested. There’s been a few cases where people accidentally went to the border with guns and each ended in them in Canadian prison for gun trafficking or something like that. People who drive from lower to Alaska have to ship their firearms there. I’ve heard Canada is super picky on what you can bring over but not what you bring out.
