I think having children is inherently wrong. Why is that? Well it is simple Your children are going to suffer. And they are going to suffer a lot. Yes there ist certainly pleasure sometimes. But the truth is that the suffering in this world is far greater than pleasure could be. The suffering ouweights the pleasure. Even if you are born rich. But most people are not born rich. Most people are born poor in this unequal world. Not only that, there is a chance that your children will be born disabled. Which will increase suffering even more. Then there are people born in warzones. People born in famine. Your children will have to deal with bullying, violence, sadness, poverty, homelessness, jobloss, unemployment, sickness, disabled, death of loved ones, deaths of beloved pets and many more horrible things. Maybe your children will expirience pleasure, but in comparison it is nothing against all this suffering in the world. The besten things to so is to stop the cycle of suffering. Stop having children, because not suffering is netter than suffering. And everyone suffers greater in life. You ca not avoid it. And offen times it will not make you stronger. What do you personally think? Should we stop the cycle of pain? Is having kids wrong and selfish? Is life really worth all the suffering and pain? Is life really a gift, or more like a course? Is suffering always bad? Why would you continue the cycle of suffering?

Being disabled will not increase suffering.
Due to hedonic adaptation, regardless of life situation you will balance out to the same level eventually.

Suffering is inevitable. Misery is a choice.

No it is not. Just like poverty. Misery is not a choice.

The rich suffer MORE than the poor. There's a reason that depression is at its highest incidence in the developed world. Some of this may be down to poor diagnostic standards in the third world, but most of it is down to the death of community, religion and what Durkheim called anomie - that is to say, a lack of standards passed down to the individual from society - a state inherent in post enlightenment Protestant societies, where the individual rather than the community is the measure of the good.

Young animals suffer probably more than human children. Are they supposed to stop reproducing?

The reason why we have children, fundamentally, is simple:

To keep our species alive.

Saying this (from a man who has no kids), it's not absolutely essential to have children if one doesn't want children; in fact, if one doesn't want children, one should not force his/herself to have them.

Couldn't agree more. The thought that someone out there wants to perpetuate suffering disgusts me. Especially if said person's gone through his fair share of suffering.

Your parents may have put you on this earth, but nobody can stop you from making "alternate arrangements" if you perceive life to be that bad. Most people who plan to have children aren't doing so because they've had adverse experiences and want to create babies to subject to the same torment, they're doing so in hopes of continuing on their genes and passing on the hard lessons they've learned.

The very idea of antinatalism goes against nature. Feel free not to procreate if that is not how you wish to conduct yourself, but I can't agree that giving someone a chance at life is a violation of their rights. I'd be more inclined to agree with you if there was truly no way out.

There's also a chance that parenthood will cause me to suffer.

What if you can not change your bad life?
