They monopolize land and water resources.
They have a history of excluding women and minorities...and still do.
They are incredibly expensive...one local one runs $12,000 to $20,000 per year with $200,000 in initiation fees, and another is $300,000 per year.

And to most of them, membership is by invitation only. Some of them actually even do "home checks" to see if your lifestyle is acceptable to them.

Golf is boring anyway.

Now is your main concern that they don't accept women/minorities to a stupid game, or is that the wasted money used for this stupid game should be used to make the people live in better houses/neighborhood instead?

If I am not mistaken, this one is in Kenya, a striking example of White supremacy/classism in Africa.

My main concern is that they monopolize land and water resources at the expense of the average person. Yes golf is boring. They don't have golf courses to golf. The largest "park" in my area is a county club with two golf courses, the lower one which is never used by it's members, and just remains a fenced off from the public and unused. They have golf courses as a symbol of power.

Concerning women, all of the ones in my area allow female members, but nevertheless, I find their elitism and exclusionary policies repulsive.

I'm a golf fan. I've been following golf since the heyday of Jack Nicklaus. When even Arnold Palmer was still playing.

I see what you mean, Chronos....about golf courses using up water. Especially in desert-type places. Especially in places where there's drought.
