An interesting op ed by Andrew Sullivan that I saw thanks to a Sam Harris news letter. I tend to agree that while our current culture seems to love the highschool sports team rivalry of really uniformed tribal meme warfare and calling each other names it's really, really pernicious stuff and we're setting ourselves up badly if we let that tendency run the discourse. Steven Pinker's recent mischaracterization from back in December as saying things which 'promoted the alt-right' while speaking to the point that forbidden knowledge gives the wrong side a pool of unearned/undeserved credibility just went to show that point further.

The Left reveals its own evolutionary origins in this whole business, since all they're doing is trying to hold onto the Lysenkoist genetics of the 1930s USSR, ignoring almost everything that's been learned in evolutionary biology for almost a century.

This is not the right place to argue for "open debate on whether genetics makes one race have a higher IQ than another".

I don't believe in the accuracy of IQ tests. If "genius" is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration", then I don't think that can be captured on an IQ test. In real life, it's traits like creativity, determination, insight ... that people call "genius", not robot skills of answering questions.

However, another user here might get banned if they merely repeat any of these scientists, because such discussion has been construed by the mods as racism.
