Hi all. Let's talk about the Middle East.

I think we can all agree that the Middle East is currently in bad shape ... but did the Middle East always suck? That's what I want to know.

If you could resurrect any old Middle Eastern society, which one would it be?

Being half Arab, I can’t help but feel a little offended by this. I think what the ancient Egyptians left behind is awesome, but it doesn’t mean I would bring the culture back. Not sure what society I’d resurrect though as I don’t know enough about most of them from that list.

European civilization began in the middle east.

And the Middle East was more advanced than Europe for the first 4500 years of history. Europe only gradually started to nose ahead after 1500 AD.

So any civilization prior to 1500 AD on that list would "make the Middle East great again".

I would bring back the tower of babylon. In general, I would bring back all the ancient and classic architecture.

Modern architecture f*****g sucks.

I had a maximum of 20 options and so I decided that those were too close to the Persian Empire.

I used this video for research.

I'm surprised that nobody has voted for the Mongol Empire yet. I will admit that Genghis Khan did some pretty bad things throughout his life, but I still have a lot of respect for Genghis Khan because of how effective he was.

Compare Genghis Khan to Hitler. Hitler tried to become an artist, but then nobody bought his boring-ass paintings, so he blamed the Jews. He spent his whole life whining about the Jews. He eventually seized power in Germany and started World War 2, but he quickly lost the war because he was a crappy military leader, whereas Stalin was an alpha male who probably could have won World War 2 all by himself.

Of course, even Stalin looks weak compared to Temüjin, AKA Genghis Khan. As a child, Temüjin was just a simple Asian nomad, living in a society that was barely civilized. As an adult, he was using the entire continent of Asia as toilet paper.

Genghis Khan also had a beard, which neither Hitler nor Stalin had. That makes him more badass and therefore better.

Genghis Khan = Most Badass Person Ever

Hulagu Khan is still used as a scary figure for bed stories in modern Iraq and Gulf. It is said he burned the largest library in the Baghdad history, an act which is considered to be the mark that started the dark ages in the Middle East, followed by the rule of their cultural kin-cousins, the Ottomans (there's a strong historical relationship between Turkic tribes and Mongols).

Most of the Mongols who remained in west Asian did convert later to Islam, the Mughal Empire was a Muslim mongol empire (Hint: the guys who built Taj Mahal).

The Chinese don't treat the Uyghurs too well, though.

And the Uyghurs certainly don't think of themselves as being Chinese.

Of course, yes, they are within the boundaries of the People's Republic of China.

The empire I am personally most curious to "revive" would be.....

The Carthaginian empire.

I wonder how things would be if Hannibal succeeded to conquer Rome, like what would be the major religion of Europe today, maybe it would have remained pagan, or became mostly Jewish or Muslim- but hardly Christian.

We can start by giving Middle Eastern women back their rights to work, vote and show their faces. We can also cut down on the violent crimes against the women who live in that part of the world.
