One of the better members of the team, and him on the panel with Mara Liasson or AB Stoddard was one of the few times where I could handle watching Fox.

If you have been accused of having "derangement syndrome" blame him. He was a member of the DSM III and coined the term in reference to opponents of Bush the younger. The concept is truer now than ever and applies to people all over the political spectrum.

He is loosely what would we would call a "neocon". He has been a fierce critic of Trump on many levels but is just as much opposed to a lot of what the resistance says and their tactics.

As mentioned in the video above his many of his hopes were dashed when he fractured his neck in a diving accident in college but reacted to his paralysis by being a prime example of "making the best of a bad situation". Despite seeing him on TV a good number of times I did not know he was paralyzed until reading about it in Wikipedia. I found the note to readers disclosing his dire situation a prime example of being classy while not being wishy-washy.

That a voice that does not toe to the resistance or Trumpian lines is going to be silent is just a continuation of a disturbing and destructive trend.

Below is from an appearance on the Tucker Carlson from August of last year discussing his opinions about the Muller investigation, Trump voters, and impeachment, topics still very relevant.

I do think Jonathan Haidt's work on tribalism might have outclassed his 'derangement syndrome' idea (albeit DSM III was at least 20 years before GWB and Haidt's best work came at least 30 years later) but admittedly I think he's outclassed almost everyone.

I think he was the closest thing Fox had to an objective rationalist on their panels. Tucker does a bit of the whole Gavin McInnes type of thing and it's entertaining but I've always enjoyed more, pretty much on any news network and especially picking the grain straight off the press, on Youtube where the best thinkers are a click away if you know their names. In that sense he was one of the people you could count on to make more sense than the rest.

One more literate voice goes out, as the level of political discourse continues to go to the dogs, and to the Alex Jones'.
