The Difference Between Intelligence and Wisdom

I'm making this thread because I want to delve into a topic that is very philosophical. Let's talk about the difference between intelligence and wisdom.

Here is how I define the terms.

Intelligence: The ability to see the world as it really is.

Wisdom: The ability to emotionally cope with the world and it's harsh realities, so that you don't go insane.

Intelligence is usually something that people are born with, but not every intelligent person learns wisdom. That's why so many smart people go mad from the revelation.

Intelligence: The ability to learn from your own mistakes.

Wisdom: The ability to learn from someone else's mistakes.

:D

Intelligence: The minds ability to learn and apply knowledge.
Wisdom: The minds ability to acquire knowledge without learning it.

He said knowledge and wisdom but the idea's still pretty much the same:

"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad." - Miles Kington

Suppose that means don't take your categories and heuristics too literally, probably because nearly everything we interact with is multifaceted and its worth evaluating appropriateness situation by situation.

Intelligence: One's ability to analyze information.

Wisdom: One's willpower, common sense, perception, and intuition.


From watching the "Jurassic Park" movies...

Intelligence: Figuring out if you could bring back the dinosaurs.

Wisdom: Figuring out if you should bring back the dinosaurs.


From watching other movies...

High Intelligence & Low Wisdom: Dr. Frankenstein

High Wisdom & Low Intelligence: Forrest Gump
