Because Scott Pruitt and his damage granted the new leader of the EPA is no better, just another oil industry payed salesmen wearing snake oil skin. But speaking of which Sweden is burning litterally with forest fires, many more than they usually have...the arctic circle with 90 degree weather and droughts ladies and gentlemen this is f*****g global warming and it will do worse if it is not addressed. f*****g tell me global warming is not real...if you think that than go the f**k outside and see that its f****d. I mean how many people died in Canada due to a heat wave? The world is burning, more than our beds are burning the world is burning...time to do something about it...but our GOP does not care.

Record heat levels across the globe this year, freak tornadoes in Iowa, I read the weather people did not even see the tornadoes coming and there were like what at least 50 funnel clouds many of which touched down...how 'normal' is that. Maybe people should think about climate change, harsher natural disasters can be a result of it.

Humans are experts in denial. We'll probably elect more leaders who look unconcerned, people don't want to know the facts as long as they have an ideology that makes them feel safe. Sad to say but things will have to get worse before they get any better.

Well every one of those people are stupid....We need to save the planet or we die, we have no viable way to find 'another earth' at this point in time so we need to take care of this one. Though I suspect things will get much worse before the majority get the point that in damaging the planet they are kiling themselves. However even for environmentally frienly people there is not always an available place to recycle. or this or that, harder than you think to get everyone to recycle...they would have to start having specific recycling trucks come to take recyclables, companies could strive for as least packaging possible on frozen food and things. LIke this huge problem needs to be addressed...but so many people treating it like some invisible elephant in the room. Its not an invisible elephant anymore its a gigantic global problem that we are all a part of.

It's not an invisible elephant, for some people it's a big scary elephant and for others it's completely off the radar. If you can wake people up to the reality the problems are easily solved, we take containers to the shops and have them filled for example.
It's going to take a lot of cooperation and selflessness to reverse our plight. We need a revolution in our way of thinking.

It won't be addressed.

They will.

People don't like being told what to think. Evidence that doesn't lead to the conclusion they want is no better in their eyes than any other vile attempt to curtail their freedom of thought, and they will valiantly defend themselves against it. You'll only reinforce their current views.

As long as we continue to overpopulate this planet, there really isn't much we can do.

I know this is pretty offensive to say, but all these disasters are mother nature's way of trying to create a little equilibrium.

I live in Missouri up by the Iowa border. That actually is normal around these parts. I am not a climate change denier. I'm just saying that's not a great example.

Global Warming has been going on since the start of the Industrial Revolution (c.1760 to c.1840), even though the first formal use of the term is likely from a report dated 1961...

"In attempting to identify the ultimate causes of secular climatic variation, it should be ascertained whether this global warming trend has actually leveled off in recent years, as suggested by latter-day studies of Arctic data in the Scandinavian sector (WallCn and Ahlmann, 1955; Hesselberg and Johannessen, 1958) where the warming in earlier years was particularly noticeable." -- J. Murray Mitchell Jr.

Oh, by the way ... President Richard Nixon founded the Environmental Protection Agency on December 2, 1970, a full 9 years after Mr. Mitchell's paper was published. Scott Pruitt served as the fourteenth Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency from February 17, 2017 to July 6, 2018.

So, you can't blame one man -- or even one agency -- for global warming. Blame it on humanity's greed for electricity and transportation, which are possible at their present scale only by the burning of fossil fuels.

Oh our beds are definitely getting sizzly but I also think it's somewhat arrogant of us to believe we're actually capable of destroying Earth. To paraphrase Carlin, Mother Earth can just shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

We're just a bunch of Cassandras, cursed so that society will never believe our warnings until it's too late. Humans are stupid, they never learn, how can we possibly be a part of their race?

The human species has made it so far despite ignoring its Cassandras. If listening to them were actually worthwhile, the listeners would have wiped out the ignorers long ago by outbreeding them.

Who's listening to who, how long they've been listening & why; these are not measures of anything factual. Have you ever considered it could be social Darwinism killing the planet?

well i think that the reference to burning beds relates to a shame stemming from taking our resources from indigenous lands, and then evicting them and building our homes on their land.

Many scientists believe that another mass extinction is overdue, and that with climate change, mass dying off of animal life, and the like, some even feel that we are right in the middle of the newest global level extinction.
