can you pass the world citizen quick self test?

1) name 15 English speaking celebrities from US, UK, Canada, Australia/New Zealand
2) name 10 Russian speaking celebrities from CIS or ex-CIS countries (must include Russia)
3) name 10 Chinese speaking celebrities from Mainland China (must include), Taiwan, Hongkong, Malaysia/Singapore
4) name 10 French and German celebrities (have to include both) and another 5 celebrities from at least 3 European countries other than UK, France or Germany
5) name 10 Japanese and Korean celebrities (have to include both)
6) name 10 Spanish speaking celebrities and Brazilian celebrities from Latin America (have to include both)
7) name 10 Southeast Asian celebrities from at least 3 Southeast Asian countries
name 10 South Asian celebrities from India (must include), Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc.
9) name 10 Middle East celebrities from at least 3 countries from the Greater Middle East

You mean "Are you an international expert in celebrities?".

Why is this in the PPR anyway, it has absolutely nothing to do with politics, philosophy, religion, culture or being a "world citizen"?

We're not NT, so we don't default to celebrity interest. Even I who have a specialist interest in certain celebrities won't be able to pass that. It will require an aspie with a specialist interest in the broad topic of 'celebrity'.

Unlike some, I'm not going to judge such a person. Fame is an interesting topic and usually people rise through the ranks of their job (and even are sometimes put on reality TV, like sometimes it's a cultural or religious thing that gets them noticed) for interesting reasons.

But I predict this thread will get heat because some aspies think they're 'above' celebrities and it's a pretty obscure thing to begin with.

It would be better/more interesting to say 'I have a specialist interest in celebrities from all around the world, here are a list of them and why I like them'.

I'm a 'citizen of the world', and I don't give a rat's ass about celebrities.

I've got genuine close, either through family or through places that family have lived in for more than a year, ties to: England, Scotland, Ireland (those three tend to go together though), Spain, Italy and Germany.

It annoys me when people are provincial and can't believe people have these sorts of ties to more than one country.

I mean I'm a big fan of Ireland and Irish history but still. Doesn't mean the Irish are always right, although I do tend to back the colonised over the coloniser. Sometimes the Irish can be racist. They're even racist against their own Travellers, and yes, some Travellers deserve it (I lived in a village in England so believe me I know) but the Travellers who deserve it tend to be millionaires who 'employ' slaves and have feuds and the racism doesn't really touch them and the ones who don't tend to be living on the side of a motorway with no running water and six kids in a tiny trailer and the racism does affect them. You shouldn't ever say a whole race/culture of people deserve to be hated.

And no I don't have ties with the whole world. I find it weird when people claim to. I mean technically we're all related but seriously? Real ties? I doubt it.

I guess I can name about 20-30 people in that list.

But I still consider myself a "world citizen." I like to learn about every aspect of the world. Knowing celebrities really is not high on my bucket list.

I'd rather learn about the cultures of different places. How they spend their money. How resourceful they are when things get tough.

I would have difficulty naming 15 celebs in category 1. The rest of it, nada. I don't have an interest in celebrities except for a few people who are (in general) dead.

Frivolous questionnaires like the OP's reflect nothing more than some people's obsessions with celebrities, much like sports trivia games reflect some people's obsessions with professional athletes.

Roughly off the top of my head.....70-75? Im lost on the Russian celebs, but English speaking and Asian are a piece of cake. Can name some European, Spanish speaking, and Middle Eastern.

You may not be "a citizen of the world", but you certainly are an international celebrity expert. How did you get to be so expert? Is your family from different countries, or what?

How functional would your shoulders be if your armpits were to be excised? How could you walk (among other things) without a groin? You're not some indiscriminate jumble of random parts; you're a unified whole, everything interdependent upon everything else; a whole which is greater than the sum of it's parts. ...What exactly does having knowledge on celebrities around the world have anything to do with being a world citizen?

Im Korean and my love of kpop means I can easily list Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and Thai celebrities. English speaking is super easy since Im American and theres so many Australian and English celebrities. Spanish speaking is easy since there are so many Latina celebrities too. Its not super difficult if you think about it. You just have to know where your favorite stars are from.

I would have thought that being a world citizen meant knowing who...the great philosophers, the great men and women of letters, artists, and great national heroes of ...each culture were.

I guess its more important to know who their current soap opera stars, pop music icons, and soccer stars, are.

Oh well.
