I have been on a break from my Trump Bibliography project. But I am currently in the middle of the Apprentice years. This is when the public persona that we know today emerged. The development of Trump’s Apprentice personality happened AFTER he had been a longtime friend of Vince McMahon, owner of the WWF (now WWE).
I should say here that I have watched wrestling on and off since I was four. I’m now 42. Sadly, it is my only “sport”.
Right before The Apprentice, Vince developed a character for himself that he calls “Mr McMahon”. Let me break this character down for you.
He is a heel (a villain), beloved by the crowd, hated by the wrestlers. He has a daughter and son who work for him. All three sometimes wrestle, so they personally fight their rivals sometimes. Mr McMahon brags about everything, including being able to buy and sell people and things. Mr McMahon and his kids always dress professionally, unless they are wrestling. McMahons daughter is married to his right hand man, who is another villain beloved by the crowd.
It’s ridiculous the more you think about it. And of course, Vince’s wife is no longer on the show because she is the Small Business Administrator of the Trump Administration. You can’t make this stuff up.
As most people probably know, the president himself has been on the show, and participated in some matches. He helped shave Vince’s head and he let himself be dropped in the ring.
Okay so here is a good compilation of quick Trumps to observe his mannerisms over the years. 2005 is when the Apprentice was filmed. What I have noticed consistentover the years is a confident smirk. I feel like this used to be a quiet kind of laid back thing which is now super exaggerated.
And then here, this is final form GEOTUS Trump. This is clearly a wrestling entrance. I was like holy sh*t when this happened on TV. Like what is his doing and how will this go over? Just amazing.
I’ll leave it all here. But has anyone else noticed this? This purposeful development of a TV persona before he ran? Thoughts? Comments?
Moore's depiction 1. Trump gets angry Stefani gets paid more than him. 2. Trump stages fake presidential rallies (hey look at me, I am super important) 3. Trump's popularity surges. 4. Trump decides that he will really run for president.

I'd much prefer Gwen Stefani as President.

I had not heard the Gwen Stefani thing. I suppose that works too.
I think something can be said for the PT Barnum likeness. McMahon, Trump, and Barnum are/were all epic promoters of themselves. Smoke and mirrors, tricks, playing different roles-kind of Loki-esque if you’re into Norse mythology.
