How does the Confederation of Canadian Provinces compare with the Union of American States? Are the Canadian Providences more independent or less independent than the American States are?

Would it be more accurate to call Canada a Confederation than a “country,” just as it’s more accurate to refer to the US as a Union than a “country.” (I do not agree with the statement that the US is the greatest “country” on Earth. I do believe that the US and Russia might have special and important vocation in regards to the fate of human civilization, but that’s whole other topic for another time, and I need to explore that topic more. If you do insist on calling it the greatest, call it the greatest Union on Earth, not the greatest “country,” or “nation.”)

If you see any thread by me on here that isn't "proselytizing," I can't explain that because that's obviously impossible; because again, all I've ever done on here is "proselytize."

I feel like the provinces of Canada are very similar in many ways to the states of the USA.

But I believe an American state has slightly more power vis-a-vis the federal government than a Canadian province.

One difference is that the whole of Canada has a Criminal Code, used throughout Canada, and there's no provincial criminal codes.

Each state in the USA has their own criminal code, though.

Before the US Constitution was passed, it could be said that each state was almost a nation onto itself. The Constitution lessened the power of the states, but the concept of "state sovereignty" remains.

Quebec has always had a greater "independence" from the Canadian federal government than the other provinces. There is more of a concept of the "sovereignty" of Quebec than of the "sovereignty" of Alberta.
