They are flayed and cooked alive, bludgeoned to death, or poisoned – 30 million dogs a year. Demand in Vietnam is growing so fast, smugglers are snatching pets for slaughter. One group is determined to put a stop to the trade https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/health-w ... eeking-end

In United States, some people find it gross ND "cruel" to eat dogs

In India, cows are sacred. They roam free on the street. If you hit a cow with your car, you go to jail

Different countries, different standards

Skinning dogs alive because someone thinks they taste better that way is not OK in any civilised community...
If you find this acceptible, I find you unacceptable...

Pretty soon they'll be eating buildings. There doesn't seem to be any limit.

I agree, it's not acceptable. But the torture and abuse that goes on in factory meat farming in so called "civilized communties" is every bit as horrendous.

Factory farms are just as bad, animals kicked and beaten before slaughter.
I don’t like the idea of dogs being eaten at all,the torture they go thru before death is awful. If you have to eat an animal,it should at least have a quick clean death and decent living conditions.
For people who travel to Vietnam, most of the dog meat is in the North. The South is a much better place to visit. The climate is better and people friendlier. It is actually cold in north and the town of Sapa, (not sure if that’s spelled right),gets snow. You will see dogs roasting in the villages in the north, also its best to eat vegan if you visit, people have accidentally ate dog meat.

Okay ...

So the crisis has been identified and blame has been assigned.

Now, what is anyone going to actually do about it?

Boycott all things Asian?

Write their Congressional Representatives?

Thoughts and prayers?

... ?

I doubt it...
Nothing compares to the cruelty described above...
And to add icing to the cake, pets are stolen to feed the despicable act...

My pets are more important to me than any human creature...
You are talking to the wrong person I think...

There may be instances of inhumane behaviour towards animals in civilised communities that I am unaware of...
Please explain your context...

I detect the hand of PETA in this ... the exaggeration and hyperbole gives it away ...

This life system in its entirety disgusts me to the core...
Hence my position of general non-involvement...
Nothing I do is going to make one iota of difference, so I essentially I stick my head in the sand most of the time...

I am changing...
In some ways, I am becoming more passionate in my views, something which is against my personal manifesto...

The reason I posted this thread is that I was essentially ambushed By Ricky Gervais the comedian who highlighted the atrocity...
I was so outraged and disgusted by the human filth that I broke my philosophical position of general non-involvement in the affairs of humanity...
Objective information dissemination is my default position...
Passionate outrage is something I rarely indulge in and is something I intend not to pursue...

As I said, nothing I can do will change things...
And I am not here to change the world...
There isn't a big enough dirty nappy bin...

You are presumptuous and wrong, again...
Read my post after yours...
I know nothing about PETA...
I prefer to stick my head in the sand in most incidences because I find the brutality of life too distressing...
I refuse to look at live streaming of Christchurch style atrocities...
I refuse to look at videos of beheadings and terrorist immolation of its victims...
And I refuse to look at podcasts of atrocities involving hapless animals...

Please explain where I am using hyperbole...
And please explain how you can be so callous...
Autistics are known to have an incredible affinity towards animals...
I am no exception...

Okay, so I've written a letter.

Problem solved?

No?

Then I've done all I can.

Back to work.

I want nothing from you...
You are absolved of all responsibility...

I don't need people with your flippant attitude to contribute to such a serious subject ...
Please continue if you wish...
Feel free to disrespect me and my anguish...
After all, I have the simple option of ignoring posts from people I find objectionable...
