If you can handle it, there are a lot of job opportunities for people who like to travel. Especially if you also have STEM skills to go with it. You may even find jobs that will let you stay an extra day or two to do some sightseeing after the job is done. Travel is much cheaper if your employer pays for the airfare and car rental.

Cost $2,000 just for me to go 7 hours a way to Seattle. $5,000+ to go to new York or dc. I can only imagine going to say japan would cost 20,000 for few days. It’s ridiculous. I’ll never get to travel.

Exactly ! the privitization of planes, trains, ships, and all hotel chains has completely, conpletely, completely, completely blocked any chance for the peoples of the world to come together and globalize.

A lot of the cost has to do with safety regulations. People get so upset when a airplane crashes. Yet many more people die in motorcycle and automobile accidents.

Cutting the cost of hotels is hard because nobody wants to clean up without getting paid a decent wage. And lots of people don't want immigrants to do that.

An idea may be to allow people on disability to earn travel vouchers cleaning hotels without it impacting their disability benefits. I think the present administration would look favorably at ideas that would get more US ciitizens into the workforce.

You could go to cities like Washington DC, Boston, NYC, and Tokyo, where it is common for people to take public transportation and not drive cars.

To avoid the cost and hassle of parking in Boston, I'd park in Cambridge and walk into Boston for the day.

I've visited the three East Coast cities by train and public transportation.

Yeah that immigration policy won't work. Undocumented people will continue to come b/c business needs them, no one else will do that work, just like w/agricultural laborers and most other industries. Even in this economy, Americans won't do that kind of work. All it does is put those workers in more precarious and dangerous conditions, which in turn hurts American workers across the board as health and safety regulations get looser, pay goes down, job insecurity rises and companies make higher profits. Unions are increasingly coming to understand that and I believe most Americans by now get those facts too, because most of them favor a path to citizenship for the undocumented and permanent green cards for the rest. Especially Millennials and Gen Zers.

Travelling is a good way for young people to make themselves poor. I'd rather buy a house.
