He also believes that there SHOULD be guns in schools----cuz, THEN people wouldn't shoot-up 6-year-olds, cuz they know there would be resistance.

Also, mentioned in the article..... He feels that there ARE guns in the schools of all the politicians, making the rules (laws [their kids' schools])----INCLUDING the schools of the politicians AGAINST guns!

In the state of Colorado - since 2003 - you are permitted to carry guns on campus. Rapes and violent crimes are significantly lower than on campus in other states.

A firearm is just a tool that can be used in a crime, but it's not the cause of the crime itself.

Bad crimes (violent ones) will happen just as much no matter the tool the criminal uses (or doesn't use).

If you want to actually help in regards to stopping crime, you need to look at what causes it, and to see if that can be helped (sometimes it can, sometimes it can't).

Yep. Utah has prohibited for years its public universities and colleges from adopted firearm policies which are more restrictive than state laws. I know many parents who give their over-21 college-student sons and daughters concealable handguns. I believe that the fact that Ted Bundy got his start at the University of Utah might have something to do with defense-minded parents doing this. In Utah, the name "Bundy" is synonymous with "never again."

Yep, I've been saying this, for YEARS----as in, like, "mental health issues"! !

I suppose I fall somewhere in the middle between those who feel an armed populace would make us safer, and those who want to take away guns altogether. I agree with Vaughn's analogy, even if I don't entirely agree with his entire stance on the subject.

If you think about it, obesity take far more lives than guns, but I don't think trying to stop people from consuming more food could ever work -- nor would taking away all guns.

Indeed. U.S. firearm deaths are dwarfed by U.S. vehicular deaths. I would give up my deadly firearms when all Americans give up their deadlier motor vehicles.

The analogy makes perfect sense. Both guns and forks are tools that, if used improperly, could cause harm.

How is that sarcastic? You could stab someone with a fork and it could also be used to eat yourself to death but it would be ridiculous to ban forks.

I think a better analogy would be with cars because they kill more people than guns and both kill people relatively quickly (whereas obesity takes years).

Wow. I didn't state that it was sarcastic----I asked if it was sarcasm, as I have seen other people make statements, with the tone your post seemed, to have.

So, Alex, where do you go shooting?

I've gone shooting in a few of different places. When I lived in Massachusetts I went to the Smith & Wesson headquarters shooting range where they offer pretty much any S&W for rental use. Here in Los Angeles there's a few ranges, all open to the public. Most are indoors but there are a few outdoor ranges.

Arrrgh! I am jealous. The S&W range? Wow. Next time you are in Salt Lake City, we should go to one of our ranges.
