If you were drafted

Say you were drafted for a war you did not support and you either had to fight or go to prison (maybe even face execution). What would you choose?

I would choose prison or even execution. I aint fighting and murdering people in somebody else's war. f**k that!

I would choose shore duty while my lawyers tried to find out why a 60-something disabled Navy veteran was being drafted into service when there are so many young, healthy people just looking for a good fight.

On second thought ... if I was drafted to fight in a war, that could only mean that there were no more young, healthy people left to fight instead.

It would be the End Times, and we would all be doomed.

If I had to be executed for 'treason' I would prefer firing squad over hanging. I don't wanna choke to death. Just shoot me through the heart and get it over with!

If I was drafted I'd certainly be a conscientious objector:

A conscientious objector is an "individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service" on the grounds of freedom of thought, conscience, or religion. In some countries, conscientious objectors are assigned to an alternative civilian service as a substitute for conscription or military service.

[BUT ASD disqulifies me from service - so its a moot point]

There hasn't been a draft since 1975----and there probably won't be one again----unless World War III happens.

Such idealistic virtue signaling from people who would likely never be drafted in the first place.

You may as well brag about how hard you would kick a live Tyrannosaur.

You never know. If they used to draft 14 year old boys in the old days when desperate enough whose to say they won't draft a 30ish year old Aspie during World War 3?

At one point, about 1943 or 1944, they were drafting men ages 17 to 45. This didn't last long, though.

Throughout even most of World War II, the draft age was the late teens to late 20's.

Men with kids, and college students, were exempt even during peak war time. Men with flat feet were also usually rejected for service.

A diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome or autism, unless there's a waiver, disqualifies one to enter the Armed Services.

Maybe part of me fantasizes about what death by firing squad feels like? War would be the perfect excuse for my life to end that way.

The writer Dostoyevsky went in front of a firing squad once-----but it was a mock firing squad.

I'll be honest. I know I sound weird as hell for this, but I wonder what that would be like?

I suppose you're right... the reality of it would be quite different from fantasizing about it.

Still, I would refuse to fight in any war that involved conquering somebody else's territory. I would only support war if it really was about defending my home and my family.

The last few American wars like Veitnam and Iraq had NOTHING to do with "protecting our freedom".
