Despite his party controlling all 3 branches of government for the first 2 years of his term, Trump has yet to build even just a mile of his border wall:

You didn't seriously think he was going to do all that populist BS he suggested? :P

My favourite thing about Trump is how inefficient he is at implementing his bad policies.

Man, I'm kicking myself now for buying all that stock in a Mexican pole vault manufacturer.

Around 115 miles of wall construction has taken place. Most of this has been fixing existing Walls that are in bad condition and ineffective, and bringing them to a very high standard.

Source: Trump concedes border wall construction is replacement and 'pure renovation'

The whole concept of the U.K. Independent article has seemed somewhat disingenuous. The main point is that the Democrats in general have thrown up every road block possible to prevent the wall being built. They have made this their signature issue. They have used every tool in their tool chest including the liberal courts to block construction and for the most part they have succeeded in bringing construction to a standstill.

So I would not consider this a failure for Trump, because he has tried his hardest but rather a success for the Democratic effort for a stalemate.

Why don’t we use the money to build a wall around him?

They had one arrow in their quiver (budget reconciliatory process) and used it on tax reform instead. Passing major legislation without bipartisan consensus is hard (as it should be). Under Obama the democrats had greater control of the government and had to go to 11th hour shenanigans to get the affordable care act passed.

Trump said he would build a wall - fail
Trump said he would ban muslims - fail
Trump said he would bring jobs back to America - fail

he did succeed in making amuuurica more divided than at any time since the civil war. he did succeed in making USA a laughing stock and a spectacle all over the world. he did succeed at lowering our national spiritual level, we are a coarser culture now than we've ever been. so just like the stopped analog clock that technically was "right" twice daily, he succeeded at something despite himself.
