My older brother smokes marijuana but instead of voting for politicians who are in favor of legalizing it, he always votes for ones who are in favor of the War on Drugs because he says Republicans help him and his family. He is very anti-liberal, calls America a “Christian nation”, thinks all Muslims are “terrorists who worship a god called Muhammad”, and doesn’t like actual “stoner music” like Led Zeppelin but blasts Toby Keith. I really don’t get him at all.

I don’t even smoke and I like some so-called “stoner rock”. I used to like Cephalic Carnage, a deathgrind band, and their lyrics were very pro-marijuana legalization, especially on the song “Kill for Weed”.

I don’t smoke but sometimes I wonder if I should.

Is your brother conscious of the fact that what he says is a bundle of contradictions? Have you argued with him on those points?

Well if he's able to avoid police attention, then it doesn't matter if it's legal or not in his World.

But most people won't be all left on all things or vice versa. If he's mostly anti left, then it won't matter if he's left here and there.

What for?
If he's strongly politically bent, then he will deny plain logic to defend his views and it will result in futile, violent fight. That's what most strongly politically bent people (left and right alike) do.

Sounds like a drug addict. I wouldn't take his words seriously. Like US currency after FDR ruined it, they've got no gold standard to back them up.

People in the U.S. vote against their own interest all the time.

Just remember that the poorest people cause the majority of social problems, and you'll be okay. /s

That’s a compliment - the gold standard is an incredibly stupid idea!
