"The data in the table show that on many, many measures of: a) educational, behavioral and mental health outcomes, b) alcohol, drug addiction, and drug overdoses, c) suicide, murder, violent crimes, and incarceration, d) job fatalities and e) homelessness, boys and men are faring much worse than girls and women."

Women are much more likely to be victims of sex crimes, intimate partner violence, and to be killed due to intimate partner violence.

I’m not saying that these things can’t happen to men, too.

Sexism is juat plain brutal no matter whom it affects. I don't want to split hairs about who has it worse, that's not going to improve anything.

Right.

I was just demonstrating that it’s not all good news as far as women are concerned.

Testosterone causes men to be more violent, more risky, less academic?

We stop relying on statistics!

And men have to step up to the plate----and go to college/university. Get graduate degrees. Think about school instead of chicks. Think about scholarship instead of going to bars.

I thought this was going to be one of those life expectancy things.

I notice that perfect 100 to 300 for autism. Biology at work.

I'm not overly concerned about the education ones. While I do think there are certain considerations that the current system does let down boys in some ways, it is known that women naturally fill up the middle of the bell curve while men produce most of the geniuses and most of the imbeciles. And unfortunately there are thousands of imbeciles for every genius, so women are always going to "win" at these academic levels.

Dangerous jobs, nobody makes you take them. Men are more likely to survive them than women, so it's natural men take them. And they generally pay generously if you do survive.

The prison ones, while the favouritism of women in the judicial system is a disgusting problem, a great travesty of our time, as with the dangerous jobs, men are more suited to criminality. Men will always outnumber women here. I wonder if women have any niches in the criminal World where they're well represented?

The one that I think needs the focus is male suicide. Also drugs and alcohol are part of this too as they often tie in and are the same desperate measures as suicide. The male suicide rate never seems to get any attention and just gets swept under the rug. All suicide victims are important of course, but there's obviously something about male suicide that needs addressing. Deep societal issues that no one wants to talk about.

Then why are lesbian couples wildly overepresented in incidences of domestic violence both in terms of frequency of occourence and in severity of the violence, and gay male couples are the least represented in same?

Women are 40% of domestic violence perpetrators, and domestic abuse resources that will recognize a man as a victim rather than a perpetrator are close to non-existent. Hell, the law is weighted so far in favour of women that calling the police and accusing the victim of abuse so that he'll be arrested is now just another method of abuse.

I found the authors complaints about there not being men specific computer science events/groups or whatever interesting. As I was under the impression that field had been largely dominated by males for quite some time. So while I could see female only events/groups maybe not being the best way to address that historical discrepancy, it is kind of silly to pretend males aren't able to get into the field due to sexism. Especially when if anything they've kind of dominated it for a while, with women more likely to be excluded or not taken seriously in the field.

Also those stats seem kinda shoddy and simplistic and leaves out many factors.

Abstract

The relationship between serum total testosterone (T) level and fluid intelligence (Cattell's Culture Fair Intelligence Test) was studied in young men and women. There was no significant difference between IQs of men and women. IQ tended to increase with T in men, except at very high T levels. It was concluded that (i) T may be associated with IQ, even in samples with no sex-related IQ difference; (ii) too low or too high T may be disadvantageous for fluid intelligence in women; (iii) T may be advantageous for this kind of IQ in men, except very high T levels.

Aren't men more likely to be at the extremes of intelligence , <70 and >130?

Testosterone likely reduces intelligence for some men, because it makes them do stupid stuff, like get in bar fights or become sex addicts.

When are men going to be allowed to feel their feelings?

Aside from those already stated, more women are depressed and underpaid --- these greatly impact quality of life also.
