The question is what do you call your sanctuary? Not as in a place of worship. but a place of safety and a place of Rest or relaxation. When I say sanctuary I mean some what you find your solitude and peace in. Some find it in an actual factual place. some find it in Physical object, some find it in a Project, some find in Imagination and fantasy. some find it in a concept or a hobby, and some find it in something they do.
Examples include, physical places like libararies, schools and empty buildings. some find it in an actual Sanctuary of a church. Some find it in the country side, Driving thru it or hiking in a forest. some people find sanctuary in there School work and dead lines at the office. some find it in Painting or sculpting. some find it in collecting things or buiding things. Some find it physical place as long as they have the real sanctuary with them. like music and a good pair of head phones, or the yoga matt they carry on there shoulders. or there laptop. Some find Sactuary inside the internet especially at late night hours. Some find it in a fandom. Sci-fi, or fantasy, Furry, and robotics. even just doing Cosplay can be a santuary, as they play as someone else or another species for that matter. Some find it in being in isolation, they thrive in isolation. like say in there bedroom on the bed. Some people find it sadly in a cage like jail or a prison or an insane asylum. this is also why people Hoard objects, or create things like game rooms. There collection brings them relief, theyre Favorite objects or things they like to learn about. Man caves sometimes are the result of this idea. everybody searches for one and if your still searching l can under stand it.
Whats mine ?
mine is my headphones. when I think or want to find solitude I find it in my headphones with the right kind of music. but it takes a specific. I like my noise Cancelers. Cathedral, Chorus and sometimes opera music is by Far the most relaxing. It doesn't have to be religous related. Ive heard soundtracks, Hymms to revolutions, and even chants. I originally found my sanctuary in libraries and empty large spaces. over time I enjoyed the music in many places. Theres a mission here in California. san juan batista. I used to love to stand in there hollowed halls and Id play songs by Georgeian Monks, there chants. then I found a more solom place. Theres a camp in North California. its nestled in the Great red wood forest. Theres a trail that leads far out into th ewood far from the camp. the trail is a normally used Recreation trail but Theres a fork midway that leads off to a clearing. There was a place. only trees, my music and me.
Its in my mediation that I go back there with my music playing in the background.

I often find solace by being in nature, the dark, or rainy weather, and by playing video games, watching cartoons, or collecting information about/things relating to my interests.

I'm pretty sure most people on here can guess what mine... yes, the Living Sanctuary, Our Lady! I love to meditate on and converse with Our Lady.
But more specifically, there's two images of Our Lady that I find myself really loving, this statue Our Lady of Fatima that I have set up in my bedroom: (the following is a 5" version, mine is I think either 12 or 15")
And this artwork I actually commissioned myself, in celebration and thanksgiving for a major turning point I hit in spiritual life, back on a snowy day in January, it's called Triumph of Our Lady of the Snows:
I should add that my meditation on Our Lady greatly improved after seeing this trailer of a movie on the Fatima apparitions. After seeing the live-action portrayal of Our Lady in this trailer, my meditation abilities sky-rocketed and now my meditations are much more vivid and realistic:
One more thing I should add, maybe it's because of the mention of music but, I really like this old song Santa Maria, Strelo do Dia, composed by King Alfonso the Wise, which I stumbled across a couple of weeks ago. I actually listened to it earlier today and thought I was getting bored of it, but reading the opening post in this thread made me want to listen to it again, which I did and found myself enjoyed it just as much as I usually do. I really love this song, it's almost like my personal theme song:

If you see any thread by me on here that isn't "proselytizing," I can't explain that because that's obviously impossible; because again, all I've ever done on here is "proselytize."

She's quite the enigma. Some pictures that reflect some of my understandings:

Outside
I'm not an indoor person. I hate winter because it's too cold and dark to go outside. I maybe living in the wrong country, but in midsummer we get really light, late nights here which I love.
I love going to the beach and listening to the waves. I got at least once a week. Even in winter, I'll order a cup of cocoa at an outdoor table and sit and listen to the waves.
There are a few country parks near me that I like to walk around as well.
I also enjoy architecture, sp a walk aroundcan old town or city is something I like to do as well.

Sitting by the nearby river, breathing in the air and writing stream of consciousness poetry, miniature novels or ideas onto the paper, usually around the theme of "the machine"/world view's/nature. The pen and the sub/un-conscious mind take over and work together in harmony in motion and gives me something to focus on while not overthinking too much.
Closing my eyes and meditating at night. Surrendering to the bliss and peace of nothingness.
Making music in my room.
