Are fireworks weapons of mass destruction?
I could have posted in News but I would have post the whole article and it's all political debate anyway.

So in necn.com New England Cable News
A man was arrested on Cape Cod for because an illegal fireworks display.

The Barnstable county DA not only charged him with unlicensed fireworks but also,"Posessing weapons of mass destruction".

Is this exteme,no evidence of intent to harm although a bystander was injured but this accidentally.

One of my neighbors down the road was playing with fireworks and destroyed one of his eyes.

I would not call it a weapon of mass destruction, unless it was a fairly large fireworks (like dynamite) and directed at a large number of people.

As I recall, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) are most often used in reference to:

Nuclear weapons
Radiological weapons (=dirty bombs)
Chemical weapons
Biological weapons

... fireworks seem a bit tame by comparison...

Unless the fireworks was a MIRV missile, though, in which case I'm not going on vacation in Cape Cod anytime soon...

I reread the article and law enforcement logic was the fireworks displays proximity to an apartment complex. So possibility of a apartment fire was the "mass destruction".

Still a heavy charge though for thoughtless stupidity, for something to be a weapon there should intent of harm.
