Are you unaware of the murderous crusades committed by the Christian "crusaders" who invaded the East?
It seems not. They were driven by greed and the desire to take what was not theirs, with bloodthirsty hatred and immense cruelty. They were murderers and thieves claiming to be holy.

And how about dat Spanish Inquisition?

The Aztecs may have taken a rather dim view of the "Christian saviours" too, thieves and murderers characterised by extreme brutality and motivated by greed not faith.

Or the colonization of basically anywhere for that matter. Forced conversion was a common thing as well as kidnapping children and raising them under the 'right' religion.

Sounds like you've been reading Protestant propaganda.

Islamic soldiers conquered Christian lands and coverted people with swords. Those involved in the glorious crusades were good Christian men who risked their lives to defend servants of God from an evil army of invaders. They are responsible for saving innocent lives and restoring the freedom of Christian men who lived their lives for God.

I'm just gonna say it. I often find myself wondering if Christianity is a deceptively evil religion. Not saying that every Christian is evil, and I'm aware that every religion in the world is guilty of similar cruel acts, but this particular faith has forcibly spread its reach around the world by crushing anybody who got in the way through torture, slavery, and genocide while preaching about God's mercy and forgiveness. It reminds me of what Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane said in the movie Sleepy Hollow: "Villainy wears many masks, none so dangerous as the mask of virtue".

Christians (those who follow the ancient and historical Christian religion based on the teaching of Jesus Christ - commonly known as Catholics) mostly colonized South America. Protestants (followers of Martin Luther and other sects that started after the 16th century) colonized North America. I'm aware how Protestants treated Native Americans. It's not fair to blame Christians for the bad deeds of Protestants.

Those were Byzantine and Sasanian Empire citizens and land that got incorporated the Caliph. Hardly land of Roman Catholic crusaders from western Europe. <-simple history, crusades were obviously more complex

Quote:
Islamic law prohibits forced conversion, following the Quranic principle that there is "no compulsion in religion", However, episodes of forced conversions have occurred in the history of Islam. Historians believe that forced conversion was rare in Islamic history, and most conversions to Islam were voluntary.

Most conversions were the result of choice (either from personal belief or from the tax imposed on non Muslims).

Didn't the Spanish conquerors, who were all Catholic, impose immense suffering on the innocent South American communities they encountered, and force them to become Catholic? Pizarro and other monsters come to mind. Whether Catholic or Protestant, all those who force people to follow their particular customs and ways, such as the mostly Protestant USA did with the native Americans under the guise of "civilizing" them, it is an atrocity and a human rights violation and must surely be an abomination to God.

What you call "Protestant Propaganda" we call "Historical Facts".  Also, it is very likely that B19 has been reading the Bible, which is something that seems to be discouraged among the Catholic laity.

You are to liberal politically and socially to be a protestant literalist or New Testament literalist, you are trolling, clearly as usual.

You don't have a protestant fundamentalist world view,I wasn't born yesterday and your posts contradict themselves.

He's a Protestant but not a Protestant literalist or fundamentalist. No assumptions please!

That's exactly the problem I have with Christianity. Regardless if Catholic or Protestant, neither side wants to acknowledge the evil things they did to innocent people in order to spread their reach around the world. They claim that they want to save souls and make the world more civilized but in reality all they actually cared about was power.

OK, so which one is it? Are these two views mutually reinforcing, mutually exclusive or independent of each other?
