I thought this was funny-sad, so I also thought to share it with you...

The most ridiculous historical arguments denying women the right to vote.

• Eve ate the apple which made women unequal to men and, sorry, voting will not change that.

• Pregnant women could get too excited when they vote, and that will turn their babies into ugly idiots.

• Voting will lead women away from love and children and toward loneliness and anxiety.

• Voting will not help women cook and clean, so what is the point?

• Women are sweet, weak, and gentle and voting will make them hard and harsh like men.

• Women can get whatever they want anyway.

• Women could cancel out their husbands' votes.

• Women don't actually want to vote; they just think it would be fun to try.

• Women will abandon their husbands, cruelly leaving them alone with their own children to vote.

• Women will vote to punish the men who have done nothing but give them everything they want.

It has been only 100 years since women's right to vote was legally recognized, yet it seems amazing that some people (men, mostly) actually believed any of these arguments were valid.  The article gives more details, of course.

Or they seem to vote for social programs and for spending that should go into tax payer's pockets instead.

Putting that aside, I think the meritocratic system (or the US used to have) would be enough. As far as other characteristics I would agree those are absurd. To extrapolate this further I this voting is a stupid was of deciding on things and this can be proven through various social sciences.I just don't see why something as archaic as the nation state needs to exist when we have the block chain and such.

You forgot one.

Women don't need to vote because their husbands vote for both of them.

I asked my mom once why she never voted and she told me something like that. I sat there and blinked at her for awhile. She honestly believes that way. It hurts my brain.

"If women voted it was cause them to lose their feminine mystery."

That was also said back in the day.

Don't act like this is all so far in the past. Abby Johnson, who spoke at the RNC last night seems to doubt women should vote.

Quote:
When questioned if there was a split between the man and woman, she replied, "Then they would have to decide on one vote. In a Godly household, the husband would get the final say."

There are absolutely these people still floating around. This argument shouldn't get too much steam though, since it would mean that married women would have less of a vote than those eeeeeevil single mothers.

Likely , the #1 reason is because many men want a superior role.

Women should have had the vote for as long as men have had the vote.

When you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression; but you're not being oppressed when another group simply gains the same privileges you have always enjoyed.

Just down road from where I live there is the tiny village of New Ashford (population about 350) was where the first ever legal vote was cast by a woman.

My household is definitely Godly - the husband's final "you're right" settles all the arguments
