Other than trying to deny this, I wonder how Trump's defenders will spin this.

When an article relies on "anonymous sources", yet other sources who were present have come out publicly to deny the facts in the article, it certainly makes the article appear to be of questionable accuracy.

General John Kelly, formerly of the Trump White House, had stated today on MSNBC that that was Trump's opinion.

The fact that this is a "huge story" leads me to believe that Joe Biden's "huge lead" has evaporated.

It reeks of desperation.

What evidence is there that Trump cares at all about the American fallen? This is the same man who had denigrated John McCain for having been captured, then was enraged that the flag flew at half staff after McCain died. And now has ended publication of The Stars And Stripes newspaper for soldiers. Trump has accused General Kelly of being that anonymous source. If so, he has the credentials and credibility to back him up against Trump. Bonespur's love for military wounded and dead is as legitimate as his devotion to Christianity.
Incidentally, even as I write this, Rachel Maddow is talking about how the whole article has been confirmed by multiple sources.

I have to wonder if those Marines who died at Belleau Wood were worried about messing up their hair.

Not to stereotype, but generally, Republicans tend to be more pro-military, pay lip-service to the forces, go on about religion more than Democrats (in a broad, general sense).

As such, Democrats should love Trump. He's neither religious, nor concerned with the charade of worshiping dead soldiers. But you folks STILL seem to hate him.

I find these contradiction strange (and, yes, desperate).

I find it insulting to a lot of people that you assume every Democrat hates the military. Many Democrats have served or had family members serve in the military too.

I hate paranoid conspiracy theories.

While what you suggest could happen, the likelihood of that is near zero.

Republicans have traditionally been pretty conservative. Trump is a radical, not a conservative. It's quite possible that Trump has never had a conservative idea in his entire life.

The really sad thing is that Trump is pretty much destroying conservatism as a viable political position.

Trump doesn't really love fallen American soldiers, and the only religion he's interested in is the prosperity gospel which is run by fraudsters and con artists just like him, but you wouldn't know that from listening to his bull$hit. We Dems hate him for his hypocrisy.

Having the sources be anonymous undermines the credibility of the report and adds to conservative distrust of the media. It's foolish.

Not that I really doubt it personally at all. After all, this is the same guy who said:

The Most Thin-Skinned Man in America wrote:
[McCain's] not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured.

Of course there are Democrats in the military, and even former military personnel who became Democrat politicians. I was talking in generalities, as I stated, "in a broad, general sense."

Don't misquote me. Pay attention. Read. Try to comprehend. I never 'assumed ALL Democrats hate the military,' don't play games, son. I'm not sure if you have poor comprehension skills, or if you're deliberately being what they call a WEASEL. Re-read what I wrote.
