...and to Harry Potter fans, no, I am not writing about Lord Voldemort. It's the pet name I've given to our illustrious US president. I've come to realize that after four years, those I know who hate him and want him out of office are literally talking even more about him, and more often about him, than those who ardently support him and plan to vote for him again. I left the church several years ago because I was sick of everyone I knew there [except for one other person besides me, and of course the clergy never mentioned him, yet warned about him slowly becoming an idol of sorts] talking about how he was some sort of wayward messiah, and singing the praises of things which he'd never done, and never will do.

The guy is just an incompetent, racist con artist; the grand wizard of the cult of personality. He's always been this way, it's been well documented by those who study the NYC social scene, to say nothing of tabloid "newspapers". He can't run a business, but America has the Joint Chiefs and the Congress, that's why outside of COVID-19, America isn't much different now than it was 50 years ago [make of that what you will]. He knows that controversy is the only way he can stay in the limelight, it's what made him famous in the first place. He has more in common with Jim Jones than he does with Thomas Jefferson, and now that I'm out of the church, my mother and my closest friend just won't... shut.... up..... about how he's basically some sort of antichrist and he's going to bring the whole world to an end if he wins again. My mother compares every man she knows to him, and he's just become a scapegoat for all of society's chauvinistic ills. As far as I'm concerned, one crooked loudmouthed politician is not much different from another. Bush and Cheney committed atrocities [Iraq, Afghanistan, legalized torture and spying on everyone]; Obama committed atrocities overseas [Yemen, the drone war, cosigning the erosions of America's civil rights instituted by Bush, Cheney, et al], Clinton had the crime bills which decimated untold thousands of men and women's lives.... and don't evenget me started on Ronald Reagan.... If you love 'em, hate 'em, don't care anymore. I really don't. All we can do about it is vote, or volunteer if his opponent is someone you can be excited about, and that's it [I will be voting, but I'd seriously be more excited about going to the dentist at this point in my life]. Even though it oughtn't be, football is back, fall and the holidays are coming, and I'm taking a well-deserved Trump break. Not seeking replies for agreement, or argument, just needed to vent, and I figured this was a more appropriate forum for this post than any other.

I agree with all your points. But I still say he's going to be even more dangerous for this country than any of those other presidents you mentioned. Comparing him to Jim Jones, the man who convinced his many followers to commit murderous suicides, is the PERFECT analogy for what I think Trump has in store for us all. Just saying.

I disagree. Trump is no racist at all that is just the current pejorative that any non-Democrat is labeled with. Heres a few non-racist pieces recognition Trump has been awarded.
1976 Humanitarian Award by the National Jewish Health;
1983 Tree of Life Award by the Jewish National Fund;
1986 Ellis Island Award given to Trump, Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali;
1990 video of the Rev. Jesse Jackson lauding Trump as a friend to minorities and underserved communities. Jackson expressed appreciation for Trump’s support of the Rainbow Push Coalition’s initiative called the Wall Street Project, which aimed to help minority-owned businesses;
1995 President’s Medal by the Freedom Foundation (Washington) for his support of youth programs;
2007 Muhammad Ali Entrepreneur Award;
2008 Unicorn Children’s Foundation Shining Star Award;
2011 Presidential Hero Award by the Lois Pope Life Foundation;
2015 The Algemeiner Liberty Award for contributions to Israel-United States relations.

I know this is hard. But the best thing really is to stop giving your time and attention to things that bother you.

I AM a Trump supporter, but it’s stunned me how he has permeated all news and entertainment. It is absolutely what he wants. It’s Branding.

You just have to turn it off and when people bring it all up change the subject. When they see you rejecting it all and embracing other things, other people will follow your lead.

Alas.....you're going to hear about Trump....and about Biden....for the next two months.

Like Soc of Autism said......just get away from the news for a while.

Out of interest, from an outsiders perspective, why is Trump so disliked in the US? I'm from the UK so I don't really get to see the fine details of his governance but at the same time I'm not aware of any substantial law changes he has implemented that warrant the level of hatred over him. I hear that he is a racist all the time but as of yet iv'e not been given any sources of those claims.

He's hated because he cannot be controlled by elites.

So, elites who control everything, push out negative stories about him.

This causes millions of minions to regurgitate the negative propaganda they've been fed.

Well I'm aware that he has literally no filter on what he says but looking past that, I've always been baffled as to exactly what he's done to pretty much become the embodiment of evil by so many not just in the US but around the world. He is one of the more non nonsense presidents and doesn't care what he says which no doubt rubs a lot of people up the wrong way but since becoming president I don't know exactly anything he has done to target anyone racially. The last I heard about policy changes was actually prison reforms to make it easier to criminals to get on with their lives.
