https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/11 ... concession

If he does this then he is no longer president. He is a wannabe dictator.

I fear that he might use the Proud Boys in this, establishing a secondary military.

This makes the claim that he is the leader of the 'free world' an absolute joke.

I'd like to avoid ableist language as a lot of leftists I know have been debating this as either 'he won't do this cos he isn't a lunatic' or 'he's having a meltdown'. No. He is mentally stable and neurotypical. If he does this then it will be a choice on his part.

This amusing predictive scenario has been playing since 9 Nov 16.

It's too bad it will expire in 74 days.

Of course after that, it can still be predicted he will be raising a secret army to take over the US.

Along with the Proud Boys he has Putin and the Russian military and Russia's nukes to back him up.

Oh no! The final wrestling show cancelled?
How disappointing!

I added the possibility of an exciting sequel.

Perhaps Mar-a-Lago is already being converted into a military base.

If we are not lucky Trump will stage a military coup.

If we are lucky Trump will finally concede.

But his concession speech will have about THIS level of eloquence (move it up to about four minutes into the program):

Any chance he makes enough of an ass of himself that it hurts his support among his base?

Maybe Trump is having similar thoughts to those of Hitler in those last moments in the Bunker in Berlin: "the German people are not worthy of me".

Maybe Trump will have a change of heart about wanting to grip on to the presidency because... he will decide that "the American people are just not worthy of me".

And if I were in the Oval Office with him I would ...not argue that with him. In fact I would say...

While some anti Trumpers are celebrating his defeat IMHO we are entering the most dangerous part of his presidency. He has nothing to lose and will act accordingly.

IMHO:
If he refuses to leave I believe the secret service will escort him out. While that is necessary because if Trump gets away with it the constitution is worthless, it is a necessary hell. That will make him a martyr and that is when you will really see the violent reaction that has been predicted.

What happens if he can get 50,000 or so of his supporters some armed but also some children and babies to surround the White House and not let the Secret Service out? I would not want to be Biden then. His choices would be do nothing and bye bye constitution or take them up on their dare and kill a boatload of civilians.

I can envision Trump and his minions acting like a retreating army and destroying anything that could be used to help the Biden administration and avoid their own prosecution.

Another huge problem is that until January 20th he is still commander in chief and still has the authority to do things I don’t want to think about.

The best option is for him to flee the country and find asylum somewhere. That is not a good option as it means he escaped the legal consequences for any crimes he has committed. But MAYBE the optics of him running away would show his most cultlike supporters he his not the macho superstar they think he is.

The White House is not important. Biden becomes President at the inauguration. If Trump did somehow raise a militia and barricade himself in, and the Secret Service and the military decided it wasn’t their job to remove him... Joe Biden would still be President, and could carry out all the duties of the President. He could just work out of a different office. He doesn’t have to be sat in the Oval Office to push a special button, the power of the presidency transfers to him when he is inaugurated.

But if you have significant portion of the country not believing or abiding by it we have a humongous problem.

There already was a significant portion of the country who utterly rejected the last president.

Most everything of woe that's being predicted, like riots, has previously been carried out by the not-my-president never-trump bunch.

The usual response to a barricade situation is to shut off all water, gas, telephone, and electric service, to place a second barricade around the first to keep supporters out, and to play loud music over and over again to keep those inside awake and unable to concentrate.  The federal government would also have the authority to jam all cellular communications into and out of the White House, including "Tweets" and other wireless forms.

Were Mr. Trump to barricade himself in the White House and refuse to leave after January 20, 2021, I would expect to see him eventually perp-marched, in handcuffs, from the White House and into a waiting ambulance to be taken to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a psychological evaluation, sedation, and eventual sequestration in the facility's Mental Health unit for the rest of his life.

:D Well, I can dream, can't I?

... they can easily lure him out by claiming that there is a Trump rally in Utqiagvik (the northernmost town of Alaska), and that Trump is invited to a joint grizzly bear hunt with a bare-chested Vladimir Putin afterwards.

He won't be able to resist the temptation...
