Whatever side you're on. And I'm wanting to keep this as apolitical as possible...

It's ok to take a break from politics.

If it's an election year in your country, vote.
If not, wait until it is, then vote.

But do not feel like you have to get bogged down in online debating (which gets nowhere anyway imo) if it is affecting your sleep or mental health. Or your relationships with family members.

If an opponent can make your case in a less 'strawman' way than you can yourself, you are doing your side no good. If you are too tired or stressed to argue effectively, again, you are doing your side no good.

This is a human plea from me to take a break if it gets that far.

Yes, to people I agree with, I care about us making the arguments. But I want them made by people who are in a healthy mental condition and not stressed to the point of mental illness. It makes them more effective.
Yes, to people I disagree with, I do not want your arguments to succeed. But I care about you as a human. I don't want you to be stressed to the point of mental illness. I care about humans in general.

When all this is over (pandemic) you can get back to helping people out. I think that helps society more than arguing online anyway.

Activist burnout is real.
Remember the human behind the argument.
