Why Doing Nothing Is the Key to Happiness

The Art of Doing Nothing

When we master the art of doing nothing,as much as we enjoy doing something,

we reach an even equilibrium balanced homeostasis state.

Do nothing,quieten the mind,in solitude,alone~Master this.

and the worlds your oyster.

Key to fulfillment, bliss, happiness and effortless living.

The end of suffering in duality.

Taoism.
In my 20s i read a lot of books on Taoism and for some time, i lived a peaceful life of solitude, in the quiet.
Spending my time reading the books and learning to let go.

Allow the universe to reveal what it wants to me without my intervention, trying to make the universe do what I want it too (which in essence is futile).

I remember it as a time that i did find a fair amount of peace. With very little but basic food, shelter and books.

From the Tao Teh Ching, by Lao Tsu:

Thirty spokes converge upon a single hub;
It is on the hole in the center that the use of the cart hinges.

We make a vessel from a lump of clay;
It is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful.

We make doors and windows for a room;
But it is these empty spaces that make the room livable.

Thus, while the tangible has advantages,
It is the intangible that makes it useful.

I'm actually the best on my block at "doing nothing."

I love the Tao Te Ching By Lao Tzu,

rather than read on the net,

i ordered a hard copy,which arrived on the 9th,

along with 'The Book of Five Rings'

By Myamoto Musashi.

A few days earlier,i received a book,

'Bushido,The Soul of Japan'

By Inazo Nitobe.

Another two a few weeks ago,

'Soul of The Samurai'

~Modern Translation of Three Classic Works of Zen and Bushido,

by Thomas Cleary,

and

'Hagakure~The Book of The Samurai'

by Yamamoto Tsunetomo.

More books to come.

Hmm that is interesting, I may have to try this.

I have tried 'meditation' but seems I cannot get that right, this for sure seems kind of similar but with thinking about it in a totally different way. Either way seems like this could be useful to try.

I mean it cannot hurt to try doing nothing for 10 minutes a day.

There are some, that poke fun,and do nothing.

Quite obvious by some replies.

They are,at there own self defeating devices and self defeating mind mechanisms.

10 minutes is a good start base.

Build on that,

don't watch tv,nor pay attention to the negative news etc,

just build on that.

Find,the equilibrium of mood,

it get's more enjoyable.

Moods stabilize.

And importantly,

beat life to the tune of your own drum.

Align with your own truths,

negate the naysayers.

The non constructives of bettering self, will wither.

Let that be the hallmarker,in whom and whom you don't align with.

But importantly,align with you.

The fakes and pretenders, will wither away.

Ps.In turn,alas,they will burn
