Skimmed it. The last bit about TTC’s was most interesting. Good point. Much like the conservative media propaganda phrases “Think for yourself,” and “Do your own research,” neither of which those parroting those phrases are doing.

Came across this:

Quote:
5--Realize you likely can't argue your Q out of their beliefs.

This is true for any conspiracy theorist. I have discovered this with an old friend. Honestly, I don't have the patience to deal with all this. I say only they can help themselves.

I'm bad with acronyms so I don't know what TTC means, but otherwise, it was a good read. So, these people need help. Good thing there are some good psychologists available in prisons.

The weirdest one for me to comprehend is a good beach friend who thinks Q believers are totally whackadoodle looney tunes (and they are), yet he's one of the biggest "Covid is an overblown hoax! It's all about the government trying to control you!! ! It's all about big pharma making power plays!!" guys I know - especially when he's drunk. Very ironic/hypocritical of him and he can't even see it.. just so inexplicably weird to me. Like Wtf, man? You're smart enough to know that Q is total BS, but dumb enough to believe that covid is a global conspiracy to control people and reset the economy and take the Zero material wealth you've managed to accumulate away?? LOL Get real.

I keep telling people that QAnon is religious cult, and not just your average conspiracy cult.

Only in the sense that it's anti-semitic at it's core. But I don't recall hearing anything else religious about it, only that once they draw people in with the weird democrats are paedophiles stuff, then they hit people with the "Jews are controlling the world, we gotta fight back against George Soros!!" crap.

QAnon is a religious cult, Q is its Pope/Prophet, the MAGA crowd forms a part of its believers, and Trump is its "Chosen One", whose Second Coming is now predicted for March 4, 2021.

Really, step back and take a broader look at their behavior.  Some have even performed "Jericho Marches" around various government buildings to claim them and release them from the devil's control.

I would normally define a cult as "A religion without political influence", but one of their own was recently elected to the U.S. Senate.

That and their so-called belief system is political. Republicans are the good guys, Democrats eat babies, worship satan, and run pedo rings out of pizza shops.

Plus the entire premise of Q only exists based on someone claiming they have a government job and security clearance and inside knowledge blah blah fan-fic sci-fi stuff. Sure, not a politician's job, but still employed by gov't officials and agencies. The whole thing is poli-sci-fi.

Redditor asks op:

Quote:
How did you get yourself out?

OP answers:

Quote:
Posted above, but basically Q said some weird s**t about computers that I knew to be false and that triggered some red flags in my head

"Hey wait a minute, that is not true, if they can say something so untrue, I wonder what else they could be saying that is untrue."

And his critical thinking kicked in.

I wonder if it's possible to pretend to believe in this stuff they believe in and then say something false and that will get them out of it lol. Reverse psychology and positive manipulation.

I believe a lot of the anti-Soro's conspiracies are started by antisemitic types.
I mean, it must really make an antisemitic angry to know that a man born a Jew has so much money.

I believe it is likely the reason why other wealthy people who were born Jewish are also hated.
I also find it ironic that the reason why these powerful and wealthy Jewish people accumulated their wealth and power,
was due to being forced to start banking due to being excluded in many other areas of industry.

A man who used to be a close friend of mine, has no fallen out with me due to his strong beliefs in conspiracy theories against Mr Soros. He also believes the crazy Q'Anon theories.

Personally i think that he has likely been getting too stoned, and possibly started buying his cannabis from people who are far right politically. Which is a shame. Although, in my experience, drug users can develop an unbalanced friendship with their drug dealers, perhaps associating the happiness they get from taking their drugs for a liking for their dealer.

First, sorry (not) for the lack of linear form in my comment. Will not justify.

I used to enjoy reading stuff fon reddit, but not anymore. I saw there a lot of marketing operations disguising themselves as grassroot movements. Psychological warfare and manufactured consents are very real on reddit. And, who really coded that site at first ? Aaron Swatch alone ? I remember when he died, the other Reddit founders downplayed his role in the founding of that site. I perceive this popular site has an agenda and that agenda is to uniformise opinions and beliefs. Too many echo chambers on Reddit. Some fringe subreddits have good information. But the need for peer validation could be the real motivation for keeping that site alive.

When the Q movement started, there was two subreddits about Q and it movement. Both subreddits got closed by the site. I frequented both subreddits, and some posters did a lot of research and gave good information. Reddit closed these subreddits for political reasons only.

And the guy doing the AMA, 6 days ago, stopped being a Q follower two years ago. Why waiting until NOW to do an AMA about that ? Peer acceptance ?

There is a big difference between being a Q follower, and being a Q believer. Following something is neutral. Believing in something is not. Labeling anyone a 'believer' is abusive if you then use their 'belief' to disparage the 'belief' which is just you projecting an opinion you have about something you don't like or give no importance except coincidently to disparage it.

Q empowered many people across the USA and the world that made them motivated to communicate together for a common cause, that they can help change things for the better. Because, many many people felt that there was something really wrong about how the world was turning into.

As for QAnon ( QAnon is how the [MSM] portray Q, which is not a canonical word in that community ) being a cult or a religion, I have no problem with that. Do you ?
