72 virgins, personal meet and greet with jesus outside the pearlygates. Disembodied demons gargoyles spectres. reincarnation into the lower orders of the animal kingdom as karmic retribution for speciest and human supremecist attitudes. eternal return, groundhog day. So many speculations, so many possibilities. No, i haven't thought about it.

Nothing scary. After I read what scientifically happens in the brain when dying, I can't possibly be scared anymore.

For a short time we hallucinate and I'm curious about that because I don't want to do drugs but it could be anything.

My wife and children would likely grieve, and maybe even weep.

The rest of my relatives ... I doubt they would even care.

I think we are biologically wired not to think about death. Just a hunch, but the evidence is all around us.

If that was true, you would not have responded to this thread, and the thread itself would not exist.

Not so. These Scientist seem to think otherwise. Seems you're wrong again Fnord.

That reminds me of the Medieval Monks who placed a skull on their desk to remind them everyday of their mortality. We now do everything to avoid and sanitise dying. As a society we worship youth. We hide death.

Having GPs in my family? Death's just a part of life. You can't sign countless death certificates without accepting it.

I wouldn't mind a desk skull, I have squirrel skull but seems may be a little delicate to keep on my desk might get knocked around and damaged.

My impression was the opposite, that everyone especially young folk especially fear death and that used to include me. There were chainmail questions on Facebook people used to send including the mystery around death. Death is fascinating.

Everybody fear death. We just don't usually dwell on it. It's a cultural taboo. A Psychological repression.

I fear the process that leads to death, not so much non-existence. I don't buy into the notion of an afterlife, I guess. Once the brain dies, that's probably it for consciousnesses as we know it. But I would love to wrong.
