Why do humans hate disabled people?

In Denmark, one of the politicians has a disability (not a cognitive/mental one btw).

Recently he was a victim of a lot of ad-hominem attacks because of his disability, with a lot of people saying that they wish disabled people like him and others should be sent to death camps.

They wrote that on Facebook and they were not afraid of not being anonymous.

The really scare thing was that the majority of the comments were hateful.

Even the more moderate news media is very sceptical on disabled people. Most Danes also think that disabled people should not recieve disability pension, no matter how disabled they are.

I don't think this hatred has anything to do with economics. In Ancient Greece disabled people were outcasts and disabled infants were left to the wolves to eat.

The Vikings did the same thing.

Jesus was also crucified because he helped the sick and poor.

Why do humans hate disabled people so much?

Survival of the fittest instincts? Not wanting anyone they perceive as weak or a burden - anyone who can't defend themselves or others, or provide for themselves and others. Meanwhile Elders fit this category but typically get a pass and respect - because they earned it via hard work, battles, providing for themselves and others etc for many years.

But then there's modern society where technology is the great equalizer for many disabled people. My best friend is disabled (deaf) and is also the CEO of his growing tech company that does multiple 7 figures/year in business. Be like him and don't listen to anyone tell you that you can't do something & just do it anyways.

Some of the people originated from Norse people (viking heritage) gravitate towards neo-pagan / neo-nazi beliefs / values.

The nazi's of the world war 2 used all sorts of propaganda to manipulate the people in order to incite them to take up arms and to join their cause.

This includes the use of powerful imagery provoking Greek, Roman and Viking mythology. 3 of the greatest empires in history, that also had a class system structure to their societies, and who all also were known to expand their territory and wealth using offensive warfare and conquest methodology.

The countries who have a strong identity based on their viking heritage have some inhabitants that harbour anti disabled values based on the viking folklore, but also the nazi philosophy of race supremacy and eugenics.

It's the us vs them mentality, like with racism or sexism or homophobia. At least, that's what it seems like.

It's said to be human nature to be skeptic of things that one does not understand. I suppose that applies to the disabled as well.

Another thing is a matter of money: a fact is that a lot of disabled people eat away at tax money for treatment and basic living, including people that can't really produce any tax money back (as in, can't work/can only work very little.) Not everyone likes that; they might feel it to be unfair that they have to work hard to get a roof over their heads while some people get one for free without doing anything to earn it.

Then there's a matter of superstitions: apparently, in some cultures, it's still believed that associating with disabled people brings bad luck.

Humans are,. by nature, animals. Animals seek domination over their peers. Degrading disabled people gets douchebags the attention they seek. Other neurotypical peopl find it funny for someone to be humiliated by another person. Just see how people like seeing a street fight. The one who would break the fight would be booed. Humans are competitive and like easy matchups. If they can put someone down easily, they will.

Another reason... Right wing politicians play up scarcity and people get the idea disabled people are a luxury we cannot afford.
