I just don't assimilate cos of it. Full stop. Been called a t**g etc so idk how I should feel any shame in what the Brits did. Already been rejected, no desire to join them.
...
Even then I'm ashamed of parts of my culture's history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalene ... in_Ireland

I think all countries have f****d up histories, it's just the extent to which they have them. Richer the country, more likely it was built off of oppression. Bit like people: so many celebrities have skeletons in their closets, I don't think that's true of your average working/middle class person.

Not much. There were some bad things and some good things and some ambivalent things but I don't feel personally responsible for 1000 years of various things.

I'm worried with my country's present.

Any election of Merkel. No country deserves such a disgrace. 8O :?

What's wrong with Angela?

There was nearly nothing good for Germany or the German people that she ever did in all the years only a lot of total s**t. Beside of that lasts that nasty dictatorship to long already just because of the brainless ones who elect her. The taxes are higher than ever (and by far higher then in USA) and lots of islamistic s**theads are in Germany now. The poorest people have more problems then ever and the people here have less civil rights at all now. Do you like her? What for?

Because she stood up to Trump, a notorious misogynist and fascistic bully who I despise.

You are so fixated on Trump.
There is more to life than that bad, bad man. ;)

If only that could be the case. Trump is now trying to make a comeback, and has at least half the Republican party fanatically devoted to him personally. I dare not divert my attention, nor should anyone else. Especially since quite a few of his disciples thinks he's Jesus on his second coming.

That was the point I was going to make.
He has ***ONLY*** half!
I heard that only a couple of hours ago, btw.

He lost a lot of support when he had the Capitol Hill brain fart.

Look at it this way.
You have 4 years of the Democrats in power.
4 years is a long time, for us oldies.
Enjoy it.

Also, at this stage, there is little reason to believe that he will have a chance of being elected in 4 years time.
All that the Democrats have to do is a reasonable job in governing the country.
Why stress out when you don't have to?

There's a saying about Presidential elections: Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line. The GOP will follow Trump into the abyss if he gets the nomination.

A non-sequitur in the sense I was saying you have nothing to worry about, for the next 4 years, and probably for the 4 years after that.

I think you might be traumatised by the Trump experience.
Time to chill. ;)

You might be surprised to know I hope you're right.

Trust me.
I'm never wrong. 8)
Well, *almost* never.

I really hope you're kidding.

Seriously, in this sort of context, I am usually spot on. 8)
People just choose not to acknowledge it.
People have always underestimated me. 8O

Okay, I'll just leave it there.

Everyone should be for their own country to show that they want something better for the future...
