Let's make an example...

The issue of animal welfare...

Extremes of these opinions would be "I care nothing about animals, treat them however!" The other extreme extreme is "you can kill a carrot even! Vegans rule!" But it's when people make over generations about the other side is where things get sticky...

Someone growing up in a Vegan community must thing all hunters don't care about nature/animals very much, while the hunters see the vegans as overly sensitive...

The Truth is in the middle and most people are in the middle, like I know people that hunt or fish and they care about animals and nature too, deeply! In fact some hunt because they do care, like hunting over-populated deer, which cause accidents... Vegans however will point to the cruelty of domestic farm animals... But then both sides start stereotyping the other side... And the name-calling starts, and the defensiveness starts... Etc...

Personally, I just don't think I'll ever want to fully abandon meat but I'm all for greatly reducing my meat consumption. Diets with more plants and less red meat are generally healthier and our over consumption of meat has lead to horrific factory farming practices. But I'd still like a nice piece of meat every now and then, and certain things wouldn't be the same without meat. I mean, come on, vegan thanksgiving? An animal being raised and treated decently and then being humanely killed really doesn't bother me. Maybe it should, but it doesn't. Factory farming is bad though.
