I just wish we could all be united in response to the pandemic and do our bit to keep everyone on the planet safe but it does annoy me when some people just spout such ridiculous nonsense sometimes about the crisis and protest like its some kind of cold war-like conspiracy by China to destroy the world, or that world leaders created the virus to kill off those classes of people beneath them and that it was all for the benefit of the world economies and not the people along with many other mad and bizarre conspiracies and just putting other people's health and lives at risk.

Yep, it is frustrating. And a source of disappointment with the human race.
I followed the pandemic news with moderate interest for a while.
Then with mild interest for a while.
Then with what might be called half-hearted interest for a while.
Then pretty much stopped.

As with the rest of the news in general, it seems the less I follow the news, the more energy I have for living life.
And my messy health has made energy a big issue.

Agreed. Sick to the back teeth of reading conspiraloon shite - much of which, it has to be said, emanates from right-wingers - to the point where I've unfollowed anyone I know on Facebook who posts it.

I don't necessarily want my social media pages to become echo chambers on which I only talk to people who agree with me about everything, but there's no point in trying to have a mature discussion with people whose denial of reality has become so deeply ingrained that they argue the pandemic's fake, the vaccine's fake, the sun's fake, the sky's fake, everything's fake. It's toxic, irresponsible and dangerous.

I don't believe in secret cabals, global conspiracies, new world orders or CIA disinformation sites. History has shown that global politics is simply not that competent; it's more common for governments to be dangerously inept rather than excessively efficient.

I eatched some bbc on the current surge in cases in Indian today, then youtube went on to give me Indian news with pundits. They were talking about the American pharma industry hoarding raw materials for vaccines and hindering exports. ... They were talking some very serious, anti capitalist and anti American rhetoric.

I wonder to what extent groups like the Naxalites will gain new members, and whether we will see an anti-capitalist revolt in the provinces of the American empire.
It's long overdue anyway, but this might be the spark....

If there's one conspiracy theory that I do believe, it's that the majority of Q/MAGA/whatever is composed of social media bots who are deliberately spreading lies and misinformation in order to divide the USA and severely weaken the country.
