IMHO, the only truly foolproof and humane technique would be for the instant obliteration of the head by an 8-gauge shotgun at near-muzzle range. i would render the subject unconscious first. the death would be instantaneous. problem with guillotine/beheading is that there is still oxygenated blood in the brain, thus consciousness still lasts for a few seconds, of searing phantom-body pain. inhumane. hanging likewise, plus hanging causes the worst headache/phantom pain of body of one's life. gas, likewise. electric chairs basically barbeque their victims alive. inhumane. the other techniques could be made more humane if the subject is first rendered unconscious.
