Anyone else use these platforms to subscribe to newsletters and podcasts? I find them really useful in getting perspectives that aren't common in mainstream media of any persuasion, whether it's media criticism from a left wing angle from Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi (I wish I could post Taibbi on Obama here, it's amazing), a nuanced view of trans issues and internet controversies generally from Jessie Singal and Katie Herzog, drunken libertarians cutting loose with some inside baseball on current events on The Fifth Column, or hilarious gossip and provocation from Anna and Dasha on Red Scare, there's a ton of great content on there, and not all of it is paywalled. It's genuinely surprising to me that a new media outlet hasn't appeared yet to consolidate some of these people under one roof as there is clearly a market out there for the non partisan outsider takes, and it sure seems like money is being left on the table.

Here are a few of my favorites:

I do also like JRE, but I'm not a regular listener, I only tune in if he's got a guest I'm interested in.

My footprint on Patreon is light, still lighter on Substack, but I'm familiar with most of those names (and find myself listening to Glenn and John, Matt, etc. regularly) and I do have somewhere around $30 a month in donations.

I've probably been most interested as of late in following Daniel Schmachtenberger, Jordan Hall, Samo Burja, Jim Rutt, and the people between the GameB, Consilience Project, and Rebel Wisdom orbits. They've been chewing on the complex systems and sense-making aspects of where we're at and trying to clarify the difference between 'complicated' vs. 'complex' problems and how differently they need to be navigated (as well as how poorly our current system is set up for handling complex problems).
