Gosh.

A little off topic, but I (here in the US) used to be able to get the "MegaHertz" package of TV channels on both broadcast and on cable TV. The group of foreign news channels next to each other on the dial: the French channel, Russia Today, Al Jeezera, etc.

One of them (I think it was RT), had weather around the world, and would have temperatures around the world in both fahrenheit and in centigrade. And it amazed me to see how hot Iraq is even in normal times. The weather maps would show temperatures in Cairo, Tel Aviv, and Beirut, as being like 89 degrees. But a few hundred miles to the east (not to the south, but to the east) in Bagdad and in other places in Iraq at the same time it would be 109, or 115 degrees.

Same latitude, same distance from the equator, only few hundred miles apart, but the temperatures would be markedly different between the mediterrranean coastal cities in Egypt, Israel, and Lebanon (on one hand), and places in Iraq at the same time. The moderating effects of the water might have kept the temperatures down on the coast. I guess.

What changed?

The Arab Spring refugee crisis will look tame compared to what's coming next.

They will come from fertile valleys which now run dry. They will come from the Sahel once it is devoured by the desert. They will come from Australia and California so they do not burn alive. They will come from coasts when the sea and storms consume their homes. They will come from India, where some cities are so hot your plastic sneakers melt while you walk. They will come from everywhere crops fail--and there will be many crop failures. They will come from countries which descend into unrest as the people violently assault governments which failed them.

They will be treated as less than human--as all refugees are treated in the First World. Their blood is on the hands of climate deniers. Shame them mercilessly when the time comes. You won't have to wait long.

Scientists have coined a new term for this stage of Climate Change we're entering: "We're f****d".

All this upheaval will lead to civil conflict and international wars. Millions will die. Nationalists will use fear of migrants to seize power. Resources desperately needed to fight climate change and improve infrastructure will be diverted to fighting wars over our planets dwindling resources.

I find it harder and harder to not viciously shame any climate deniers. But hey guys!! ! Both sides have valid arguments11!!!1!1!! ! Liberals just want to shut down discussion bc they don't care about civility!!!1!1!

Yet deniers vote GOP because they claim that Christians are being persecuted because it’s no longer acceptable to call people f*gs, d*kes or tr*nn**s.

And they’re willing to literally let the world burn to prove that.

I sometimes wonder if G^D sent covid-19 to wipe out the covid/climate-change/evolution/science/vaccine deniers through their own stupidity.  There are easy means of prevention and mitigation, but the deniers refuse to use them, citing their "right to choose" as their (lame) excuse.

Maybe not, but I see the same pattern among people who choose to drink alcohol and refuse to wear a seat belt or motorcycle helmet while driving -- "It's MY choice!" are usually among their final words.

That thought has crossed my mind many times but at the same time it makes me even angrier because 'G*D' apparently doesn't care about collateral damage. It's not just the anti-vaxxers, and QAnon nuts dying from this, it's killing everybody. Also the same is true for climate change killing everyone and not just climate change deniers.

In fact it reminds me of everything I ever heard about the AIDS era and how people blamed the gay population for getting it because the general idea was that 'G*D' was 'punishing' them for being gay and that they deserve to die from it and/or have their lives ruined. Never mind the fact that later people realized that anybody could catch AIDS regardless of their gender or sexuality.


So maybe this whole 'blame the victims' thing is really BS? Just a thought...

Edit: I'm not defending these anti-vaxxers, anti maskers, or climate change deniers BTW, I'm just saying we shouldn't cross the line of thinking "Well it's killing all the right people!" Like we did during the AIDS era. Because the Coronavirus and Climate Change does not care who it kills.

Clearly the CCP G^D designed covid to get rid of the old wood while leaving the new shoots to thrive.

I seriously considered this when the pandemic first took off.
