Everyone loves to hate on Catholics but I find Protestants to be terrible too. Especially Southern Baptists and those Evangelicals who sold their souls to the third antichrist aka Donald Trump for political power.

At least Protestants don't recite 20 "Hail Marys" for every 3 "Our Fathers".

Worshiping, venerating, and praying to Mary is blasphemy, and the RCC is turning into a global "Marianite" cult.

Anyone who prays to Mary for any reason is not a Christian.

Showing more respect for the woman who birthed the Son of God just makes Catholics seem slightly less like the patriarchal chauvanists who would prefer we all lived in The Handmaid's Tale.

There is a big difference between respecting someone and worshiping them.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is being worshiped, even more so than God the Father.  This goes beyond mere respect, it is a violation of the Third Commandment (Exodus 20:3), "You shall have no other gods before a me."

It also shows complete disrespect for God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (John 14:6), "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

Mary worship is blasphemy, plain and simple.

Abrahamic religion is very phallocentric. I’m bored with penises. Worshiping Mary would be a pleasant change. Worshiping a pagan goddess, such as myself, would be even better.

So is worshipping money and power aka Mammon, something which all American Christians have been guilty of when they started selling their souls to the Orange Antichrist known as Donald Trump.

When was it ever? Wedding the church to temporal power doomed it to decadence from the start of you ask me.

Seems like a pretty broad statement. Are Orthodox Christians less Christian for praying to icons of Jesus? What about people who revere the saints? When does veneration stop being veneration and start being worship or idolatry?

Not sure if this is more reassuring (probably not the right word) or just interesting for you, but many of the practices involved in venerating Mary were adopted from the pre-Christian cult (no, not how we think of modern cults (scams, insane, tyrannical)) of the Egyptian goddess Isis, mother of Horus, wife of Osiris. Isis's cult expanded far beyond Egypt and throughout the Roman Empire, and was an established, popular figure of worship by many Roman pagans. As Christianity spread, converts brought with them already-existing cultural and religious practices and adapted them to Christianity. Thus, imagery and rhetoric used in the worship of Isis became adapted for the holiest woman in Xianity: Mary. Many statues and images of Isis were straight-up redesigned to represent Mary. This is not dissimilar to how the veneration of Christian saints has been heavily influenced by pagan worship (eg: in Latin America) of minor deities and ancestral paragons.
Disclaimer that people debate the extent to which Isis's cult actually influenced the veneration of Mary--its not exactly un-controversial.

Although I think all supernatural beliefs are nonsense, I was raised Catholic and am not aware in my experience of any Catholic who worships Mary. Catholics pray to all saints, including Mary, but the purpose is to ask them to intercede with God on their behalf.

Why it would matter however, I don't know.

I don't know about that. This whole "ever virgin mary" thing makes it seem like they're demonizing women's sexuality. I'm sure the protestants have ways of doing that too.

Why don't you just ask the big man directly? He doesn't bite.

Hence why I said slightly less like patriarchal chauvanists.

And for the record even the old goddesses of 'paganism" were treated the same way. Like in Greco-Roman Mythology every Goddess was portrayed as either a virgin like Hestia or a whore like Aphrodite.

I found it amusing when Kamala Harris' mother (who was Hindu) was quoted with saying "Countries that believe in Goddesses raise strong women."

That's never been true. Women have always gotten the short end of the stick even in countries that worship them Goddesses.
